This washcloth is called "Woven" Dishcloth. The front and back post double crochets create a very compact, sturdy dishcloth. I like that the pattern includes a stitch multiple so you can customize how large the dishcloth measures.



Mine is 6"x 6" and I used Sugar and Cream in Daisy Ombre. Turned out to be a great stashbuster!

[Through Any Window Baby Blanket]

Through Any Window Baby Blanket

With three different rows, this pattern will give you a tad more variety while still
preserving the simple mechanics and appearance of granny blankets in the round.

Stitch wise, half double crochet (hdc) is used throughout to reduce stitch gaps and
each row alternates with either two or three hdc shells.

One of the most important changes is a ghost row of stitches without intermittent
chain spaces or skipped stitches. This row stabilizes the structure of the blanket and
helps to prevent warping and stretching of the corners. To make this row blend in, the
following row is done in between the stitches to mimic the granny style.

If this ghost row of straight hdc stitches isn’t for you and prefer all rows to be
executed in the same classic granny square format scroll down for the alternate version.

Tips: The center of the blanket starts as a circle and it is recommended that the magic
loop technique be used for this starting round.

The border detail is essentially an extended picot.  To create a more triangular picot
shape, replace the second single crochet in the chain loops with an hdc.

If the border curls, try turning the second row of the blanket and work a wrong side
row.

This version does not have a ghost row of straight hdc stitches and follows a more
standard shell and skipped stitches granny square formula for every round.

I made two granny square hats using Crafty Christina's Soley Granny Squares Hat Pattern. They were relaxing projects and I really enjoyed the contruction. I plan to make a few more if I can fit them in with all the Chrismas WIPs I've got.

I wish I had switched the yellow and green on the blue hat. I wanted it to be boyish and it looks too much like a yellow flower with green leaves to me.

For the purple and green hat I used a circular start. The first two rounds are taken from a granny blanket pattern using double crochet instead of half double. Here you can see the two starting rounds side by side.

Edit:  I've made another hat with the circular granny.  It is a good idea to use hdcs for the first round then dcs for subsequent rounds.  This makes the hat edge much more straight.

I finally got to try these hats on a school-age kid.  Here are more accurate sizing directions.  The individual square size is followed with recommended crochet hook sizes;

Kid (3-10 yrs): 4.5", G
Toddler (1-3 yrs): 4", F
Baby: 3.5", E

Remember that the whipstitch seams add another inch or so to the total circumference. I used the sizing charts from Bev's Country Cottage.

[Rnd 1]

I worked up this little number for a lady who works at the local
grocery store. (I live in a tiny town, so it's not that random, right?)
Her little boy just turned one, so of course I jumped. A reason to
make a baby blanket, yea!

I've had this Bernat Sweet Stripes for ages and it frankly was the
softest yarn I could muster from my stash in the largest amount. It is
hard to rip out if you make a mistake (of which I made many) and
also splits a lot. But it is a nice soft, cheap acrylic, so I can't
complain.





Chromium Star Blanket Pattern

While this star shaped afghan sports the usual gaps parallel crochet
stitches form, a modified hdc2tog and an adjacent dc stitch fill in the
cracks normally made by chains on an increase and skipped stitches
on a decrease. The mhdc2tog and adc stitches may seem
unconventional at first, but you might find after a few pattern
repeats you will no longer need to reference the pattern.

*That’s Cool* a random fact

Stainless steel is not completely rust-proof, but because of a hearty
helping of chromium, it oxidizes less than it’s counterpart.

Okay.  I didn't make this, but I just had to show everybody what my
mom made for me for my high school graduation.  It's a twin size quilt
with my favorite photos sewn into the border.  I couldn't get the
colors to show up quite right, but it all flows together beautifully.

My 22 yr old cousin just had a baby boy a week ago so I thought this would be a nice accessory. 
I used Sugar and Cream and created angular corners with 3 sc in each sharp turn. 

I like the pattern for this bib since it doesn't have ties.

Any comments on washing instructions?  I heard that Sugar and Cream colors are bright, but fade fast. 

This is a hat I made for my 25 yr old cousin. She likes girly things and loves light blue so I thought this hat would be perfect, but I'm a little afraid that she will think it is too 'grannyish' if that is the proper term.

The brim is kinda cool because you can wear it flat against the head or raised. The glass head doesn't really show the versatility though.

I used a g hook and simply soft yarn (not sure of the official color name).  The hat pattern was a little big so I had to skip a few of the increases but that may have been that I didn't print out the picture and thus didn't have the gauge.  Funny how important that can be for a hat!
