1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: comic book swap? on: May 20, 2005 01:38:12 AM
Most of what I read is Dark Horse and IDW, but I have some Vertigo and one Marvel title too. I also have a couple Slave Labor TPBs I got as gifts.

Do you mean comic books or webcomics/newspaper comics? I read both! Well, not really comics in the newspaper. I'm a dork either way!
4  California / California: North / Re: South Bay craft group on: May 06, 2005 02:27:56 AM
i'll come, too! i'm probably available whenever. i can do a screenprinting demo!

suggestion for future meetings: the main san jose library (mlk in downtown sj). it's my favorite place ever and i also might be able to get some kind of discount because i'm a student at sjsu.

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: printing on paper/cardstock? on: April 22, 2005 09:02:44 AM
what about regular acrylic paint, like liquitex basics? has anyone tried using that with their screen before? i wonder what the difference is between regular acrylic paint and speedball acrylic ink.
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / printing on paper/cardstock? on: April 19, 2005 01:34:48 AM
i screen print on t-shirts and other fabric all the time, but i haven't done cardstock or paper yet, and i really want to. what kind of ink and drying techniques do you guys use? i have some waterbased ink, but it's for textiles so i haven't used it on paper. there's probably ink just for paper but i have no idea where to start. recommendations, tips, advice, comments?
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / where are you? on: April 14, 2005 11:17:27 PM
I'm curious: where are you guys located? How much access do you have to screen printing supplies? I'm in San Jose, CA and I usually make runs to Hayward for my supplies, which is about 30-40 minutes away. Do most of you get supplies online and at art stores?
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: question about switching to plastisol... on: April 14, 2005 11:01:02 PM
There are special solvents you can buy that are just for plastisol ink, but I use mineral spirits or paint thinner. Water wont even wash plastisol off my hands so it probably wont work, and I was advised once not to use water because it might mess it the emulsion up (I actually have no idea if that's true or not, but I don't take risks).
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Fingerpainting, anyone? And some doodling, too. on: April 14, 2005 01:20:18 AM
Hi, I'm Rebecca. This is my first post in this section.

So yeah, it feels a little amateur but hey, it's fingerpainting, right? The flash from my camera messes it up a little bit.

And now some doodles. A little warped and obscure.
