I got the idea out of a Seventeen magazine like 5 years ago, tucked it away somewhere and recently found it so Ill share it all with you. I made tiny modifications as i went (since there were no instructions) so yours might turn out a little different.
I just kinda looked at the picture and tried to re-create it

Hope you all enjoy!!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Clapton Hyde Park dvd BRACELET.. HELP! on: May 17, 2005 11:24:54 AM
On the cover of the Live at Hyde Park concert dvd Clapton is wearing a kind of 'knotted' bracelet. Ive been trying to find a good pic for the last hour or so but to no avail. If anyone can help me that would be awesome. Im trying to do the same type of bracelet for a friend of mine because he loves it. I dont even know what its made of, leather strapping maybe? It seems to have a hemp bracelet type design.. Somebody help! LOL

Thanks

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Bath and Body - Tested and Appoved Before Sale? on: May 05, 2005 06:54:06 AM
Im a Canadian resident trying to start up a small business (think website, craft fairs, consignment etc) My main question would be if I had to get my products approved before sale. I sell mostly Bath Salts, Body Butters, Lip Balms, Sugar Scrubs etc and Im PRETTY sure that in the USA these have to be FDA Approved before sale but then again im almost certain that these things fall under the Craft something or another in Canada and DO NOT have to be tested before sale. Im really trying to NOT run into any legal trouble.. more or less I am covering my arse. If anybody could shed some light, that would be great!

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / The best labels for lip balms? Suggestions please.. on: April 09, 2005 09:49:43 AM
I've been expirimenting for so long with different kinds of lebels for my lip balms. So far, I havn't been satisfied and I need help! Ive tried regular mailing labels (not sticky enough) and clear mailing labels (Smudge off after a while) and not to mention none of these labels are the right size. Can anyone tell me what kind they use for their 0.15ml lip balm tubes and where to buy them? Thanks a bunch!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Safety Pin Bracelets on: April 06, 2005 02:27:28 PM

ta-da!
The concept is pretty simple- put e beads on safety pins, close pin. Thread onto stretch elastic alternating safety pins from right side up (say the pin closure on the top) to upside down (closure on bottom). After youve deceided its the right length (make sure to tighten the stretch elastic otherwise it will be too saggy on your wrist) tie the sides off. Then I go down each side with a pair of needle nose pliars and pinch every closure together so the elastic doesnt slip out from the end and well, the other end is a loop so you dont have to worry about that. I like to secure the knots in the elastic with a bit of clear nail polish. I'm sure theres a craft item out there with a specific name but the nail polish has never failed me, so I've got to stick with it! Slip it on your wrist and admire, LOL! Have fun!!

I really like making these cause they literally take so little effort, i make them while watching tv. Then i made so many i had to sell them on ebay just to get rid of some, LOL Ill be prepared for the next craft fair at least!
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / designs IN your lip balm on: March 09, 2005 10:49:47 AM
ive seen many an add for martha stewart do-it-yourself lip balm kits in her mags but i have one nagging question.. how the HECK does she get those designs IN the lip balm? some of them are striped (red and white for ex.) some have star inlays in different colors in them.. anyone have any ideas of how i would go about doing this?? would be very interested to know. the only thing i can think of is using mini cookie cutters but it would be extreamly hard to work that fast i think.. especially since lip balm solidifies very quickly.
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / hard bath bomb recipes anyone? on: March 08, 2005 10:18:06 AM
Ive tried making bath bombs (a la Mable White homepage) which claimed to be "great" except every single one of the bath bombs i made fell apart in less then 24 hrs. I have heard mention of bath bombs that end up being really hard after you make them but I am yet to come across a recipe. If anyone knows of a good one, please share.. it would make my day.. especially since i got 2lbs of citric acid in the mail today and i feel the need to craft, LOL
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / SPF - what is it - how to use in homemade products? on: March 03, 2005 07:19:19 AM
Ive got a question.. I make my own lipbalms and my friend is taking a trip down south in a month and asked me if i can make lipbalms with SPF in them. Ive heard that shea butter has a natural spf of 15 (how much shea butter would give this.. dont really know) is SPF something you can buy and add or does it only come about after mixing various things together. im curious about this.. anyone care to enlighten me? : )
10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / bath bomb molds on: December 22, 2004 08:17:15 PM
does anyone know where i can get molds for the bath boms that are shaped like balls? ive tried looking in a bunch of places and cant seem to find what im looking for. i found a great site with an awesome mold but unfortunately you have to spend $100 before they ship to Canada... not so fun. so if anyone could help me, id really appreciate it! thanks!
