1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Which binding machine? on: February 08, 2012 12:10:09 PM
I am getting a binding machine, definitely!

I've been looking at the Bind-It-All machine, but i see that there are others out there.

I want to make an assortment of different journal and notebook type things... My first instinct is to say wire bound, but i know I also like the plastic edged ones as well...

And suggestions, pro's/cons, or preferences?

Thanks!

Details of swap:

This is a "Fill a Mug" Swap.  It can be items related to coffee, tea, cocoa, soup, anything that can be sipped, slurped, or gulped, out of a mug!  You can craft a mug, or not, it's up to you and your partner.  You can fill your mug with great drink related goodies!  Think of it like a Mug-Shaped Craftser version of a gift basket!

Partners will craft 1 Medium and 2 Small items.

This is a great way to try new things from other countries/locations. I encourage people to send locally made coffees/teas/items if they can.  There's plenty of stuff to send... maybe a hand made mug, a t-shirt or mug emblazoned with your favorite drink, craft supplies, recipe cards, maybe somehow incorporate it into jewelry... anything!

If you are sending within the U.S. a Delivery Confirmation (DC) is required! Everyone else, save your receipts for proof of sending!

5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / How to get an apprenticeship? My glass studio shut down :( on: August 21, 2007 06:26:59 PM
So... I was an apprentice glassblower.

But I kind of fell into it.  It was a guy my DH worked with... I didn't seek it out.  Heck, I've always been fascinated with glass, but never thought it was something I could do!

Anyway... Scott shut down his studio.  I cried.  Now I'm missing it so much I can't stand it!

I really think I am good at it.  There's not many things I can say that about... and I obsessively love it.

Anyway... to the point...

I really want to continue to be an apprentice, but have no idea how to go about approaching other glassblowers (there's a few in the area) or what the expectations are or anything.

Any ideas, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

~alana

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Anyone else having problems with PhotoBucket? on: August 06, 2007 12:44:26 PM
I can't seem to get into my albums...  This has been going on several days now...

Anyone else having this problem?
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Button/Badge problems.... Can someone help? on: June 15, 2007 04:15:42 PM
I read the main Button/Badge Thread, but couldn't find an answer...

Soooo....

I have the 250, 2.25" machine from usabuttons.com

I know I should expect some buttons to fail, but it seems like a lot of them fail.  I just had 3 or 4 out of 9 fail!

The problem is in the first part.  The mylar crimps funny, like it grabs the edges and pinches them down or something.

Am I doing something wrong?
8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / When twirling hot glass goes bad! on: June 13, 2007 12:35:18 PM
So, I was spinning out a plate, and the punty (the steel rod the glass is on) caught on my pinky.  it disrupted the spin and the glass folded on itself...

I love glass.  Smiley
9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Lavender Oil Lamp on: June 13, 2007 12:28:51 PM
Here's my second oil lamp...

The first one I had help with the neck, this one was all me!

and without the wick piece...  which is separate...

Thanks for looking!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Bubbles/Paper Lifting with Mod Podge? on: June 12, 2007 09:20:20 PM
I'm trying to do a Mod Podge project...

I sealed the image... Layed down a thin layer of MP, layed the image down and smoothed it out and let it dry.

Then, when I MP'ed over it, I have these big wavy bubbles, where the paper has lifted and warped.

Any suggestions or help?

Thanks!
