1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Emily Strange Self-Zipping Coin Purse on: September 13, 2011 08:15:22 PM
I found the idea and tutorial for this change purse here:
http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2011/08/make-self-zipping-coin-purse-from.html

The tutorial is on the Craft Passion website here:
http://www.craftpassion.com/2011/07/zip-itself-coin-purse-tutorial.html

The tutorial uses ribbon but all of my ribbons were too wide.  However, I had a some awesome Emily Strange shoelaces hang around not doing anything so I used them instead and they worked just as well.  The tutorial is easy to follow for the most part but I hate working zippers and this coin purse definitely reminded me of that seeing that it is all zipper.

Doing its job.

Completely zipped it forms a pyramid shape.

Partially unzipped.

Totally unzipped.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Market Bag take 2 on: August 29, 2011 02:13:57 PM
Had some free time while we had no electric so I made another, smaller net market bag.  Used Lily Sugar'n Cream Naturals and an H hook.
No pattern just kinda winged it.

3  COOKING / Dessert / My gingerbread house for 08 on: December 26, 2008 09:59:06 AM
I make gingerbread cookies every year but this year I decided to make my first real attempt at a gingerbread house.  The gingerbread and royal icing recipe are Martha Stewart's, which I use every year, it is really spicy and can be super hard so it worked well for the house.  The building pattern I created and then I just kinda winged it on the construction.  I am really happy with how it came out maybe next year I will try something more complicated.

This is the front of the house. The window panes are melted butterscotch hard candies.

This is the back. Both sidewalks were done with Necco wafers.

This one side of the house.

This is the other side of the house.  The peanut chimney is my favorite part.
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Second crochet - beach/ market bag on: June 11, 2008 10:41:04 AM
So I have been waiting for my job to start for the summer and I have been really bored.  Naturally I turned to crafting.  More specifically I tried my hand at crocheting again, after making a horrible hat last winter.  I think I actually got it this time.  I have wanted to make a mesh bag for shopping and the beach, so using my new found crocheting ability, here it is.  I used Peaches and creme yarn (winterberry) and an H hook.

The bag is a little bigger than I wanted but for making it up as I went a long I am pretty happy with it.

Hey everyone,
I posted this in the City Guide forum too but I figured I might get a better response here.  Well, I am going back to school in the Lancaster Pennsylvania Area and I am trying to find somewhere that I can take knitting classes.  I taught myself the basic cast on and off and knit/ purl stuff.  Now I would love to stop making squares/ scarves and start really knitting.  I need help!!!   I would appreciate any info you have, Thanks.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidery Tool Case Reconstruction on: January 06, 2008 03:30:23 PM
So I went on a yard sale binge this summer looking for furniture for my apt.  Well I different find much furniture wise but I did make some good sewing finds.  One of them was a bag full of sewing notions and old sewing books.  Also mixed in there was this neat sewing kit, I liked the print on the outside.  The inside however was ehh.  Well I had some free time and I was sick of losing my embroidery needles (I am down to two,) so I ripped out the insides and made it a little cuter and more functional.

Here's the outside.

Here's the original inside.

And here's the inside after messed with it.
There's a place for all my needles, embroidery scissors, and seam ripper, plus some othe slots for whatever.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Goethe or a crazy lady trapped in wallpaper? on: December 19, 2007 08:27:25 PM
So it was either write a really boring paper on the musical influences of Goethe or make a super fun visual representation of The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman for my final in Western Lit.  Surprisingly I chose the latter.  This is a 3-D mixed-media collage.  The face, which is a little hard to see, and the hand (sorry its kinda cartoony) are made of sculpey clay.  The "wallpaper" is a collage of victorian images I found in random ads and stuff online, they were colored with watercolors.  There's some scrapbook paper in there too.
Waaaayyy better than a paper!!

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first crochet and matching scarf on: February 14, 2007 04:15:52 PM
This is a hat I crocheted today on my snowday with the yarn I used to knit that scarf (Loinbrand Homespun candy apple).  The pattern I used was from the loinbrand website and a size 9mm hook.

This is my previous post for the scarf.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scarf Ninja (LOL) on: February 08, 2007 10:04:51 PM
Ok I made another (my second) scarf I am much happier with this one not that it's made better but I think it's prettier and it doesn't itch so that's a plus.  I used Lion Brand Homespun candy apple and US 17 12 mm needles in a garter stitch.  It's about 5.5 feet long.

This is me trying to avoid studying for my Calc 3 and Math Proof tests, I got a little goofy  Tongue (Scarf NINJA)
