Way cool! I would have never guessed that it came from that original clock. I love the way it hangs too... great job!

Hi, thanks! The clock hands and high torque movement came from www.klockit.com

Here's my clock!
I've always wanted a George Nelson Atomic Ball clock (popular in the 50's and 60's). I finally decided to make one, when I was trying to think of something large to hang in my living room above my entertainment niche. And then this challenge was announced! My DH gets major credit for this one, since he did all the cutting and drilling. But the design adaptation was mine, and I did the painting. Smiley
The clock is made entirely of wood and metal, measures 34" in diameter and is fully functional, not to mention great for us adults who are too blind to read the clock on the cable box!

Are these fluorescent tubes? Is there some kind of cover over them or are they just exposed?
27  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: kitchen cabinets and contact paper (ETA: photos) on: February 22, 2007 07:23:24 AM
I lived in a military housing unit in Germany that had THE ugliest cabinets ever. I covered them ALL, top to bottom with black and white checkered contact paper. (This was the early 90's... I thought it was pretty cool at the time!). The contact paper was up for 2 years. It never lifted or peeled at all. And taking it off was a breeze. It pulled off like nothing.
I should say that the cabinets were not wood though. They were already some time of laminate surface, which I'm sure makes a bit of a difference. But I really doubt that you would have any problems with it in that short of an amount of time. I say go for it.

Awww... thanks so much Paperbag! There are some pretty cool things on this site from some very talented folks. All credit goes to this place for inspiring me to do this!

I don't know if someone already mentioned this (sorry, I didn't read all the posts), but you can get the pegs from Hasbro directly:

Also, check with Toys R Us. Sometimes they get the basic refill sets in without the themes.

Way cool idea, by the way! Obviously you've gotten some gears turning for other craftsters...
Love it!
