1  two dresses in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by laurena on: May 16, 2008 05:06:30 PM
I recently made two new dresses. I'm sorry for the lack of pictures.
The first one I made for my birthday. I like it a lot, but it ended up being way poofier than I planned so its not really practical for everyday wear. I used the Burda Style Azalea dress pattern with a few small modifications.

On the hanger:

On the body:

That is how I wore it on my birthday. The cardigan helped keep the poof down, but without it I felt like a balloon. Next time I know not to use such a stiff fabric.

And the other one is from a Built by Wendy pattern which I didn't like very much. I'm no expert, but I felt like this pattern was way more confusing than it had to be. Anyway, the dress is really really sloppily made. I botched the collar really bad, but I love this dress. I wish I could wear it every day. You can't tell from the photo but its navy blue with tiny white polka dots.

The yarn I used for this was two scarfs and a hat before I finally made this. I just wanted to make something simple and comfy for my couch.

4  amatuer cupcake decorating in Dessert by laurena on: February 14, 2008 08:19:35 AM
My boyfriend and I decided a while ago that we weren't going to celebrate Valentine's Day this year but, after looking at Bakerella (bakerella.blogspot. com) I decided I wanted to make some cupcakes as a little sweet surprise.
It was all kind of last minute. I made some stencils out of a paper grocery bag. Although you can hardly tell I used a stencil. I found out a little late in the game that if you don't actually put the stencil on the cupcake the sprinkles will go every which way. woops!

Cupcakes!

Stencils!
