1  All that baggy sweater needs is some ARMPITS - a simple resize in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by actionfrk on: January 20, 2010 10:35:49 AM
I live in Chicago - this winter I'm avoiding the use of public trans as much as possible and so have been enduring the cold even more than usual.  I need more sweaters.  I can't afford those pretty sweaters at urban outfitters and though I looove knitting that much nice yarn adds up to a pretty penny and I could mess it up pretty easily.  A local thrift store has 3 for $1.00 sales on certain tags every Sunday and there are tons of pretty sweaters in the mens section but of course they are all huge.  Many aren't even huge - but the armpits are down at my waist - what gives?!  Solution?  A simple resize!  Its a scary idea to cut that knit.. but really its no more difficult than a t-shirt resize.  Just throw your sewing machine onto a zigzag stitch and proceed as normal - VOILA!

For this one I cut right up the sides and made new arm holes entirely but some sweaters have that baseball tee tyle cut and you have to proceed with a bit more caution but its totally do-able.  Just practice on the less awesome ones in case Wink

2  Grease Stained shirt --> Bleached Masterpiece in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by actionfrk on: March 16, 2008 08:17:11 PM

(excuse my funny pose I was testing for a photoshoot in which a dachshund would be held)

That shirt! I made it Friday night and I love it. Its an american apparel shirt I got a grease stain on so I stole the bleach shirt idea from my ex-roommate Paul Nelson and used a method similar to the "punk rock tie-dying" found in this video http://www.youtube.com/v/6tl7EldysVE&hl=en

Do it! SO EASY! SO FUN!

3  Sweater + SKATE WITH ME reconstruction in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by actionfrk on: January 15, 2007 08:24:24 AM
This is my first project post on craftster!  I made it out of an old ill-fitting cream sweater and some cute fabric I got at an estate sale!  It says "Skate with me" and has a picture of a rollerskate.  Cheesy

I hope you like!
