1  Knitting Girl Mints in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by hurdles2006 on: January 07, 2008 03:28:42 PM
My mom took me to Joann's today because I needed some #8 needles for my next project.  While in the checkout line she found these and bought them for me:

The mints aren't actually that great, but I love the little tin.  They also had crafty girl, cafe girl, and scrapbooking girl.  I thought you all might appreciate this.

2  Magknits Evangeline in Knitting: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: January 06, 2008 09:36:23 PM
So my best friend and I were hanging out watching a movie a earlier this week and naturally I was knitting.  She saw the fetchings I was making for my mom's coworker and asked for something similar but longer.  Days later I found Evangeline on Magknits and knew it would be perfect.  Then thursday, I hit up a lys for the first time ever and founfd the perfect yarn.  It is a merino, baby alpaca, cashmere blend in a chocolate brown color and is soo soo soft.  I also have some pale limey green to make some for me when I finish hers.  I have only finished the first glove, but as always, was too excited to wait to post especially since this is the first project I remembered to get a picture of before giving away and therefore is the first one I have posted on this board Grin

Here it is.

There are still a few ends to weave in which I must finish, but then it is off to bed for me.
thanks for looking! Smiley

3  Rainbow Teddy Bear!! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: April 13, 2007 01:06:48 PM
A few weeks ago I finished a big blanket using Simply Soft Brites:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=159950.0

As I am sure lots of you know, blankets can leave you with a lot of leftover yarn.  I decided to try my hand at making a stuffed animal.  The pattern came from the Lion website.  I love that he is all different colors although he is kind of lopsided.  I am not the greatest at sewing things together.  I will definately be making more animals now.

Comments and constructive criticism are always welcome. Grin

4  Big and Bright!!! I finished my first blanket :D in Crochet: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: March 24, 2007 10:11:10 PM
Since the end of winter break I have been chipping away at a big blanket.  Sorry the pictures aren't that great.  Between the lighting in my dorm room and the flash of the camera, I don't thing that the colors are truly represented.  They are much brighter in real life:

Here is a picture of the scalloped border:

The blanket was made with DC with a scalloped edge and really didn't take that long considering that it is the size of a twin bedspread.  It is made out of Simply Soft Brites.

6  New Scarf (Image Heavy-ish) in Crochet: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: January 31, 2007 11:10:07 AM
Friday night I was getting my thing stogether to go snowboarding with my roommate for the first time ever.  I realized I had nothing to keep my face and neck warm.  So, at 11:00 I busted out a half finished scarf from my stash.  I sat in bed crocheting faster then I ever had before and by midnight I had finished it.
This is a pic of the scarf and my thumb which I busted the first time I fell.  Ooops!!  I haven't been able to crochet since saturday Sad

here is a close up of the stitch that I used:

hope you like it!!

7  Ski Mask I made for my Dad!! in Crochet: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: January 16, 2007 10:38:53 AM
My dad spends a lot of time outside and wanted a hat to wear when it is cold.  I looked for a while trying to find a hat that wasn't too girly.  finally I found this pattern online and made him a ski mask out of it.

I swear my dad is not as creepy in real life as he looks in this picture

8  Sigg Bottle Cozie in Crochet: Completed Projects by hurdles2006 on: January 07, 2007 09:04:19 PM
In an effort to get rid of some leftover Simply Soft Brights yarn, I made a cozie for the lime green Sigg bottle my mom got me for Christmas.
Here he is naked:

And here he is with his new coat on:

All I did was make a circle the diameter of the water bottle.  I then continued around and around in a blue and yellow spiral until it was big enough, adding decreases and increases at the indent of the bottle and then decreasing at the top to get a truly form fitting cozie.  The handle is just two chains twisted together and then slip stiched to the cozie.
