1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Horrible $3 clock on: February 03, 2010 11:11:46 AM
Well I will spare the details, it was a terrible clock from walmart.  My friend bought 5 thinking that he was going to do a time-zone spread in their office (him and his wife are flight attendants)  That didn't end up happening.
Last time I was at their house they basically threw this clock at me and told me to keep it.  I was pretty sure if I could get it apart I would decorate it.  Worked out pretty well.
I just picked out some paper from my stash, went to hobby lobby and bought some numbers, and this is the end product!

Ironically enough it matches perfectly my two artsy pieces in my dining room.  No intention to that.

And this last one is as "before" as i can provide.  I ripped it apart to quick to get a  picture of it.  I taped the old paper face to the front  Grin

Thanks for looking!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Endeavour in card making! on: January 31, 2010 03:38:49 PM
Well long story short, my mother got a Cricut LAST Christmas.  Me being the crafty monster I am, decided to hijack it from her, because she hasnt touched it all year.

I wanted to make monogrammed "thank you" cards with it.  So here goes, plus some extras !

Lemme know what you think!

The purple flower has to be my favorite of just "playing around"

This design turned out to be some invitations for a 6 year olds bowling birthday party.  The pic was taken halfway finished, and i dont have any of the final outcome, but the came out nice.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Big exhale... its finished! on: January 08, 2010 03:07:51 PM
This is a baby quilt that completes a nursery for a friend of mine.  Her baby boy is due at the end of Jan.
Anyways, I will have more pictures up tomorrow because we will be dropping everything off tonight, and the room will be completed.
Its not perfect, but I sure am happy with the way it turned out.

I hand stitched the clouds on because i couldnt figure out the "right" way to do it with my sewing machine.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Fondly deemed Hippie Chic on: January 03, 2010 11:03:07 AM
This was my first time making this bag (its a pattern) and I am so in love with it.

The pattern is for a quilted bag, which I just cant bring myself to do.  Makes me think of "grandma's purse".... shudder.

So omitting the quilting, this is what I came up with.  It was a christmas present for the greatest pool hall waitress, well aside from me (I denounced that title a while back)
She likes yellow.  I like polkadots.  This is what I came up with.  It was a difficult task, because I am not a fan of yellow at all.  I think this was the first time that I have bought anything yellow that wasnt on the clearance table.

I dont know if you can see it, but I did a satin stitching where the two fabrics meet up.  It was that fancy varegated orange to yellow thread.  I lurve it!

A picture of the inside.  I  was looking all over for that tute on how to do that fancy (easy) zipper-in-the-bag, but I couldnt find it... I winged it, and I think it turned out pretty nice.

I am def going to wing the pattern a bit again and make one to my liking, In pink of course.... my favorite color.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished scarf on: December 23, 2009 09:25:18 AM
Mild conditions here in Houston Texas prevent most of us from wearing scarves.  Its really a sad occasion.  If you knew how many scarves I have that I don't wear and refuse to "give away" to good friends who live in colder climates....
I wanted to practice this stich, because one day, I *will* make a sweater out of it.  So a wingspan of practice, and im sure im ready... Now I just need to spend the oodles of money to get some non-cheapo yarn, because I refuse to have my first "im-actually-gonna-and-wanna" wear it sweater to be made out of crud... yes I'm gonna be a snob.
Ok so back to this 70-something degree weather we are currently having here in Houston (while people are being snowed in in other parts of the same country.)  The scarf is made out of Sugars 'N Cream.  I figured it would be much less suffocating sporting a scarf that was cotton in 60 degree weather.
Here goes....

Its actually a pretty simple pattern.  The cables are just a two to the back (total of four stitches for the cable) and a faggoting stitch.  Im not sure if that translates into an english equivalent, because i got the pattern out of a british magazine.
THANKS FOR LOOKING!

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Bumpers and dust ruffle for crib :) on: December 15, 2009 08:57:58 PM
For a dear friend.  Her little boy is due at the end of Jan.   I am making a quilt, window treatment, bumpers (which arent being very nice right now) and the dust ruffle.
I just finished the dust ruffle.
The theme is vintage airplanes, and a bit of americana type colors.
I am honestly stunned how well the "ruffle" came out.
My ironing board is my baby bed... My son just got moved up to a "big boy" bed... sniffle.
I will be adding more to this as the days roll by Smiley

Update!
I just finished the bumper... man that was a pain...all in all I am very pleased with it.
I VERY haphazardly threw my sons old crib back together... so dont think ive got a baby sleeping out in the garage. Smiley
I should also add that the crib that the bumpers are going on is a bit bigger than the one i have so it looks a little floppy.

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Knitted/felted Stocking for my son. on: December 10, 2009 01:31:19 PM
My son is two and a half, so hes starting to get into "Christmas"  I decided to make him a stocking.  My mom hand-made mine, so I figured Marc (my son) deserved just as much.
Sorry for the poor quality picture, I managed to eek out one last pic.. my battery has been screaming at me the last 20 times Ive turned it on.
This was my first *finished* attempt at a sock/stocking.  Its a little wracking picking up stitches, but the felting was pretty forgiving.
the pattern came from here
http://home.howstuffworks.com/free-knitting-patterns-for-beginners11.htm
I am thinking I am going to embroider his name onto the grey part.
I will post better pictures once i get my boyfriend to get me some batteries for my cam Smiley
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting stockings? on: December 09, 2009 06:37:32 AM
I am about to start making one after finding a million patterns online that I wasnt super excited about.  I just want a plain jane one.
If you have ever made a stocking, please inspire me with pictures!  I think I am going to make it up (plain) and then do the embroidery on top.  Not a 100% yet.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cause I cant show this off anywhere else. on: November 29, 2009 03:22:15 PM
So in one of my groups on another site, we are doing secret santa.  I got a totally awesome girl that i really like.
I decided to make her a purse.
She loves blue, so this is what she ended up with.  I just finished the makeup bag Smiley

Thanks for looking!
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Best place for this (iron queston) on: November 05, 2009 08:46:03 AM
So my sunbeam Iron that I have had for well over two years is biting the dust.  Its not getting hot enough (I guess) so its not ironing out wrinkles.  Pretty detrimental to a sewer...
I have been given the go ahead to buy a decent iron.  Is there any Iron that y'all would reccomend?
