14  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: February 14, 2010 01:32:43 PM
I got my package from spolowitz on Friday and it's awesome! I got TWO mybs!

Here's the whole lot after I unwrapped it all, minus a set of heart shaped lights which I put up as soon as I got the last  section out. It took me nearly an hour to get everything all out. The Yarn is a lovely super squashy purple superwash merino. She get me two patterns, Brea Bag and French Press Slippers.

Here;s all the bought stuff. There's 2 postie pads, a pattern book, some fabric to make a purse lining, ribbons, buttons, bumble bee stickers, a foamie set for my niece (which is awesome! because I need a way to distract her next week when I sit her while her mama has some dental work done),, a bee stamp some highlighters, a dry erase board and little bottle of grapefruit euchlan which is the only scent I don't currently have!

The Handmade stuff: A knit headband, some adorable bee tags, a picture frame, a mini scrapbook, some book marks and my favourite thing, a pet zombie! Zombies are the only thing that have ever given me nightmares, so naturally I a little obsessed with them because I'm just weird like that.

Thank you spolowitz! I love my package! I've already cast on the Brea bag Smiley

15  Bird themed room on a budget in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Michela on: January 29, 2010 02:34:02 PM
After 8 years of yellow walls and a lacking theme, I decided to changes thing. I am also on a very tight budget, so what's a girl to do? Go to Home Depot, Ikea, Wal-Mart and Craftster of course!

I wish I had before pictures, but  I was so excited to get started once I had the paint that I forgot until I was half done.

I picked a chocolate brown and a sort of light teal colour called sweet rhapsody because I guess the people at Behr couldn't think how to describe it either). The paint guy thought I was nuts when I told him my colour palette. I rather like it though and my dark and tiny doesn't feel so dark and tiny.

I did a bird silhouette theme. And the very talented Korok here on Craftster made my some lovely thrown pillows back in the fall and are completely and totaly perfect. My original plan was to make a duvet cover to match however my sewing skills are minimal. So when I saw a comforter that matched pretty well at Wal-Mart for a whooping $20, I snatched it up.

I reused the paper lanterns that I had bought for my grad party this past summer and the curtains are the same ones I've had for years.

Due to a serious lack of space (seriously, my room is tiny...) I made a make-shift vanity out of a picture frame shelf and mirror from ikea ($26 total!). I channeled my minimal fine art skills to paint the bird and grasses mural under the shelf.  And to make the space less boxy, I removed the closet doors and painted the shelving inside. I put my bookshelf and old night stand inside. I used Ikea storage boxes in there to make up for the lack of closet space.

Here's a better shot of the mural. It's still a little wet so there are weird looking spots. I used a picture I found on google as a reference, but the whole thing is done free hand.

My old dresser was just way to big for my space so I got another bookshelf from Ikea and I used it as a TV stand/dresser. It's a much better fit. I've had the DVD shelves for years, I just moved them and turned on in to a stuff shelf (not the shot glass collection shelves on the right lol). To supplement from poor over-full bookshelves, I put up some floating bookshelves formy Twilight and Harry Potter books. I may or may not have said "Wingardium Leviosa" and giggled when I put the Harry Potter books up there.

On top of the TV, I put another ikea picture shelf and painted from more birdies up there. I used stencils for those ones.

Just a closer shot of the birds.

The best part is that a complete room redecorate and reoginize cost me under $350!

16  Re: Make Me a Hat Swap in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: January 21, 2010 07:48:30 AM
I got my package form stitch81 earlier this week but I have been a horrible partner and am just posting pictures now Sad Stitch made me an awesome beret and neckwarmr set in te softest warmest yarn! I think it's an alpaca blend cause only Alpaca can be that soft.

Stitch can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the beret is the star crossed slouchy beret I have favourited on ravelry Cheesy

Action shot! Please forgive the slightly sweaty grossness. I just got back from Yoga.

Thanks stitch81!

(P.S. to all swappers, swapper list status will be updated later today. I have recieved everyone PMs regarding sending and recieveing, not to worry)

17  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 5 *-*-GALLERY-*-* in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: November 25, 2009 07:57:20 PM
i got my package from boobiemay today and boy was I ever spoiled. we agreed on a medium stocking and techincally this package was but i still feel majorly spoiled! everything is so awesome!!!

Look! Crisp white tissue tied with shiney red ribbon! What more could a person ask of life?

First the bought stuff cause I can't fit everything in one shot. there are some garlands for my mini tree, some scissors (which I really needed, I just put some dings in my last good pair0, micky mouse cards, cookie cutters1 (yay!), journaling stickets, xmas-y knitting needles and some ribbon.

handmade stuff part 1: gingerbread! Super chewy, extra gingery gingerbrad to be exact. My favourite kind. it tastes simular to my recipe, which is incidently my favourite recipe. This one my take that spot though because i didn't ahve to make these ones ;p. candied orange peel which no one ever makes for me and for some reason I can never get right. a stocking hanger, knitter yarn ornaments (soooooo cute!!), a twilight printed leather journal with matching 4 colour pen. and what might be my faouvrite thing, Hair curlers!! They are awesome. I;'ve been meaning to make myself a set because i love having curly hair, but my pin-straight, baby fine hair can't handle a curling iron and isn't strong enough to handle rollers which leave me with velcro rollers which don't make very nice spirals. I'm going to play with them tomorrow Cheesy

and last but not least, the stocking! It's leather with a matching beaded lip balm holer which was put on my keychain right away. And yes, that is a Grey's Anatomy scrubs top. It's is awesome! My inner fan girl had a good squel over that. My love of Grey's is deep (ask me about that term paper I wrote about it :p), and now I can show the world!

Thank you soooooo much BobbieMay! I hope you like your stocking even just a fraction as much as I love mine. I'm going to go in the corner and have major swap anxiety now lol

Just a last parting action shot Smiley

18  Re: Random Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: November 06, 2009 02:58:27 PM
I got my package from Korok today and it is A W E S O M E ! ! ! ! ! ! Like 17 different kinds of awesome!

There are 2 matching throw pillow cases in the exact colours I am redecorating my bedroom in. I might jsut take them to home depot and get them to colour match the blue instead of using the paint chip I picked out (which is very simular anyway). Along with 4 pairs of earrings to feed mt earring addiction, an adorable flower hair band and chocolate! yummy! MY favourite thing was this:

A handpade tunic with bumblebees and a a daisy! My fave animal and flower and it's in my fave colour. It's just all around amazing! It was out of the package and on with in about 35 second. I kid you not. I got the package when I was on my lunch break from work and I had worn a dress that morning, I went back with the tunic instead (after changing out of the purple leggings lol).

Thank you Korok!! I love EVERYTHING! there are not enough words to convey the awesomeness of this package Cheesy

20  Re: Longing for New Moon: from Forks to Italy and back in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: September 08, 2009 05:58:41 PM
I recived my package from Krafty_Karasu today and it's awesome!

Ok so theres -takes a deep breath- a Rob and Kristen tote, a notions box with apple, twilight logo and little key, Alice and Bella's cottage earrings, New Moon Cross stitched needle book which is so fantastic that I may have squealed like a 6 year old, a starfish of First Beach bracelet, Twilight Necklace, Apple bottletop pin cushion, 9 vamp eyes stitch markers ( 3 of each colour red, gold and black), and and awesome bookmarks that is already in my book

There is a close up of the needlebook. isn't it amazing? this is so much better than the piece of brocade i've been using.

A close up of the Alice and Bella's Cottage earrings. Bella's earrings have little keys with pink bows on them like in Breaking Dawn! They are perfect to because they are the same colours as my favourite pair of earrings that I lost somewhere between Liverpool and London last month

Thank you Nikki! Everything is amazing! I love it all Smiley
