3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Completely Homemade recycled journal and gift box on: February 16, 2008 06:29:35 AM
Hey Everyone! So my best friend SarahBean is flying to Halifax as we speak and I have been waiting until the moment  I knew she wouldn't be looking at Crafster to post her birthday gift. It's a bit early as her birthday isnt until Match 2nd but alas I can't wait that long. So anyways, I have been saving piles and piles of paper over the last couple of months and I finally made a cardboard template and cut the paper to size. Next I broke it up into booklets of about 6 sheets and sewed them individually on my machine. Then I used white glue to stick all the booklets together and fill the binding. 2 pieces of nice black cardstock, some fancy frilly paper for the inside, a ribbon and some star doohingys and i was done! too bad it didn't go that fast.. haha no I kid it was actually really fun. I also made an Anna Sui inspired box with the signature flower on the front, as that is Sarah's favourite thing in the world. lol Anyways I hope you like it! Kiss

In case you are all curious about what is in the box, there is a pocket charm, a vintage button ring, 2 button hairclips, 2 tickets to see the Vagina Monologues next week and what are called Pussy Pops haha... they are chocolate vaginas basically and the proceeds go towards the Vday organization to help fight violence against women. All for a good cause, and I am a Gender and Women's studies major so it's all very fitting. Thanks for looking!!!   Grin

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Arizona Can Bracelet on: January 20, 2008 09:25:33 AM
Hey! So whilst sitting at my desk this afternooni thought, gosh i have so many arizona cans waiting to be recycled and then i made these... the first is realllly wonky but the second took less time and lookes much better although its hard to tell in the pics. I suspect if i keep making more they will only get better lol. Anyways i took pics along the way! thanks for looking!

first i cut the top and bottom of the can off

Next i sort of flattened the piece out

cut it in two

wrapped the edges over about 2 inches

picked some holes out on either end with an exacto knife and then strung some pink ribbon through!!

and voila... with the second one, the one right above i lined the inside with a piece of clear packing tape to make it smoother

Thanks!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: When 2 Crafster girls go Resin Crazy! Pic obese on: January 04, 2008 03:35:04 AM
Hey! We used Easy Cast clear epoxy. It comes in two bottles which you need to mix together acording to directions etc. It was pretty simple, and to do the dominoe ones we just took a bit on a paintbrush covered the dominoe lightly first and then stuck the pictures down and then went over with a substantial amount. We did get some ooze though, which after some picking off later and filing no longer is there! Oh and dont use a paintbrush u want to use again for anything good... it will destroy it! lol
I bought the resin at Loomis and Toles soon to be De serres in Toronto so i would think that most fine arts stores would have it or something similar.
As for the bubbles, once the dominoes started setting we waved a warm hairdryer on low above them and it poped most of the big obvious bubbles... i found that trick on here and its very handy!
Thanks again! Happy Resining!!
