2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Dexter Swap? on: February 02, 2010 08:45:01 PM
So ready for this swap to get started!!
I have the strange post Dexter dreams too..it's a good thing I don't talk in my sleep, my husband might get jealous..or creeped out that I have a t.v crush on a crazy killer.

I saw this and nearly fell off the couch. For the longest time I was having dreams about helping Dexter get rid of Rita's body so that we could ride off into the sunset together.. *sigh*

Well they were told they could finish out season 2, which is better than getting cancelled mid-season as was the original plan. But the show has so much potential that it is a shame that it's only getting two seasons.

Hey everyone! See some familiar faces in this board (hi everyone!). I organized the first round, and would be willing to co-organize with crazyda79 Wink if you would like a hand! I definitely think we should be open to all seasons, but everyone needs to give a heads up as to where they are since we don't want any spoilers, since the season that just ended was super intense.
Sign-ups in Feb and send-outs in March work for me, I am REALLY anxious to participate in this round, since I missed out last time!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Dollhouse/Joss Whedon Swap on: January 04, 2010 03:39:48 PM
I am pretty depressed that Dollhouse is going to be ending much to soon. As it seems is the case with many of Joss Whedon's series, it is getting cut off much too soon. It made me think, since I know I am not the only one depressed about this, it would be wonderful to do a Dollhouse swap, or even just another Joss Whedon swap, since I know there have been some in the past.

Who is up for it?
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Handy Santa Ornaments on: December 21, 2009 06:29:10 AM
I know I got this idea from some family magazine, so I can't say that it is 100% original, but they were making it as a painted hand stamp (much like thanksgiving turkeys) and not a felt ornament. I picked up a few supplies (quite cheap maybe $10 and the supplies will make a TON), and got to work and this is what I came up with!

They are a little time consuming, but I love them and I love that it is a personalized ornament from my son, because it is a hand print.

Here are the supplies that you will need, along with a glue gun, a hole punch, and an iron:
-Freezer paper
-green felt (or whatever color you want for the back, you will use the most of this color)
-white felt
-red felt
-flesh color felt
-19.05mm (3/4") white pom poms
-10mm pink pom poms
-12mm wiggle eyes
---(keep in mind though that the bigger your child's hands are the bigger you will want these to be so it is proportional)
-ribbon
-puffy white fabric paint (if you want to date the back)

Basic Instructions:
1. Trace the outline of your child's hand (or yours, whatever you want)
2. clean up the outline and make a copy of it onto another piece of pape
3. Divide the 2nd handprint into 3 parts lines cutting across the palm, the top will be the hat, the middle the face, and the bottom part the beard.
You will have a hand piece, a hat, face, and beard, and I even cut out little mustaches.
4. I used freezer paper to make the patters for the ornaments, and then ironed them onto the felt to make cutting easier (make sure your iron is on a low setting otherwise you will melt the felt to your iron, and spend about 15 minutes scraping off fuzzy felt pieces that melted onto your iron... not that I did this or anything)
5. cut out all of your pieces, warm up your glue gun.
6. glue the hat, face and beard pieces onto the hand print. then glue on the eyes, mustache nose, and pom pom onto the hat.
7. let it all dry for a few minutes, then punch a hole in the top to run a ribbon through, so you can hang it up.
8. personalize the back with the puffy fabric paint

ALL DONE! If anyone else decides to make these I would LOVE to see the results. I had a lot of fun with these, but I can't wait until my son is a little older so he can have fun making these too!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Giant Mitten on: November 24, 2009 06:43:09 PM
http://www.knitlist.com/00gift/giantmitten.htm

Hi I am really new to knitting, I mean, really new. I have made a scarf, and that's about it. I want to tackle something bigger, but I am still really afraid of socks, so I decided that I wanted to do something a little different.

I want to do something a little different for my family for Christmas, instead of stocking, I want to make everyone a giant mitten to hang up and fill with little goodies.

I found the link above, but since I know squat about reading knitting patterns, I can't tell if this will give me a giant mitten, or if it will just give me a mitten shaped thing to hang on the wall.

Thank you in advance from all you experienced knitters out there.

Thanks Lisa, I haven't been around too much been super busy, so I am glad that you were able help out, at least I hope that helped make the pattern more clear. It was really the first pattern I have ever written, so I am sorry if it was a little vague. I know this has been a question I've gotten from a few people.

BTW, I also love the novios that you made! Glad to see people are still enjoying this pattern. Makes me smile.
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Ugliest bag ever! on: August 27, 2009 06:14:28 PM
I think it is awesome! The color and patter choices were amazingly well with the mermaid theme.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: My First Post (I am so excited!!!) on: August 01, 2009 07:40:20 PM
I must unearth the patterns.. I think I may know where they are, and then about a week and a half from now when I have access to a scanner I can share. Cheesy
