why don't you just cover it with brown kraft paper?

Okay, but then what do I whine about?  Grin

Wow, that came quickly!

I know huh! They probably saw Vegas and decided I needed mine much more quickly than others, you know, in case I melt.  Tongue

Did everyone get an email from the Sketchbook project today? They set some more of the tour dates. Go by the site and see what's new.

Oh yes, did indeed just get that e-mail but what's even more exciting is this!

It came today!

I'm both nervous and excited!

Not to mention still bummed that I couldn't choose the brown kraft one,  Sad.

I thought that theme was really interesting, kind of scary but interesting!  I'm glad someone chose it:)

I want to get back in to a regular art practice so I want to finish at least a page a week.  I think I'll do a few spreads but mixed in with single pages.  Maybe I'll work on an extra one at the same time to keep for myself if I can find another notebook on my city shopping trip....

If you don't find one whilst shopping AM just remember that I have that, oh so close to my house Dick Blick nearby,  Wink.

I agree, "Jackets, Blankets, and Sheets" does indeed sound scary but totally interesting!

Red Journal, The View from Up Here...now if only I can get my arms untwisted before my journal arrives... Cheesy

Yay!  Grin

I am sure that if you did altered art work for each spread, that it would take longer to fill up...I planned on doing more sketching and embellishing with pencils or watercolor rather than cutting, pasting...I think it will be faster or slower depending on your medium of choice...but what an opportunity to do a variety of things!  I can't wait to see what you do--I loved your Book of Hope page!!

Awww thanks!  Grin

I agree, it will take longer depending on what medium and/or how you plan on doing things.

I did find someone who has already received their journal and posted it on Flickr. This is what the black one looks like, http://www.flickr.com/photos/prixdekanun/4754062456/.

Fishstikks--the pages appear to be small...I am thinking that some pages will be much simpler than others, so it would be probable that on a good day, the sketches can take up quite a few pages...I was thinking more in lines of 80 pages was not enough.. Smiley

I thought I read somewhere that the page size was 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" which would give my spread a size of 11" x 8 1/2". Did you see a different size somewhere?

I suppose if I did a number of sketches instead of all out paint and color I could go faster,
(read easier, hehe).

my sketchbook shipped today!!!

Yay!! Mine did too!

So I see that we have to have these postmarked by Jan 15th 2011. I did a little math in my head just now. It really wasn't pretty as math and I have never gotten along very well but this is what I've come up with.

The journal 'should' contain 40 sheets giving me 80 writing surfaces. Flimsy pages means I will lose at least half of these due to gluing pages together, that takes me to 40 writing surfaces.
I'm planning on doing spreads, at least for now, that gives me roughly 20 spreads (facing pages).
My time line is 6 months...probably less. which means roughly 3 spreads per month...roughly.

Any plans on how you all are going to tackle this?

Loved hearing which color you went with and why.

alwaysinmyroom I jumped you should too!  Grin

I was actually starting to worry that this little page coming from such a long ways away was actually lost. Needless to say I was quite relieved when it finally arrived.

Such fabulousness from Phizzy.

All the wonders from Alices' world here, including Phizzys little trees!

You not only joined, you are doing the same theme as I am!  Cheesy

I wanted the craft brown cover too, but picked black. I'll most likely do a collage and cover it anyway.

I think scavenger fits us both well Racky!!

It's funny, I know that my cover color will never see the light of day but darnit, I really wanted the kraft brown...I'm so strange, hehe.

Good choice Phizzy!

babs, quit stalling and join the project!

I joined I joined  Grin!

Jumped in with both feet!

My theme is I'm a scavenger. Really debated on Facing Forward but thought the scavenger fit me better. I also went with the online digitizing. That way it can be viewed online as well, how cool.

Curious as to what cover color everyone went with. Why was that so hard for me. I chose the light gray but wanted the kraft brown that it did NOT come in.

I'm guessing these journals have 40 papers, (so it has 80 surfaces) like their smaller cousins and the lined one I have sitting here isn't really as flimsy as I had thought although will definitely be putting some pages together. The thought of doing 40 spreads is a bit daunting to say the least.

BethieB I agree, you do have an amazing friend!
