1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Mary Jane baby shoes on: April 23, 2009 12:44:58 PM
Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback!! I just have to finish darning in the ends and get some buttons before she can wear them! I'm working on a neck warmer as we speak, for some reason in autumn colours lol
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mary Jane baby shoes on: April 23, 2009 02:53:08 AM
For easter I decided to teach myself to crochet so as to crochet a cute easter chick for my niece. Having achieved this I went upwards and onwards and decided to crochet some mary jane shoes for my daughter who is now 6 weeks old. I looked at lots of patterns but the only really nice ones I could see I had to pay for, and as a beginner I wasn't overly confident I would be able to follow the patterns. Instead of following a pattern... why don't I just wing it and see what happens? So I did, and here is my FO! I was highly impressed with myself, writing, crocheting and getting a half-decent FO at the end of it! All with only being able to do sc and a simple decrease!!

They are crocheted in 1 piece, sole up and I purposely kept the sole "inside out" because I thought the spiral pattern looked more "sole like" if there is such a thing!! (I haven't darned the ends in or added a button yet!)

I finished them both in a couple of hrs

I was intimidated too, I wanted to learn to knit from a chart and because Kiri gives both written and chart instructions its a good way to learn. Once I started I thought "what was I so worried about" I found it so interesting knitting such a pattern, it wasnt boring like 7" of St St!!! I am now making a branching out scarf for my mummy because I enjoyed the lace knitting so much! Plus using the DK wool as opposed to lace made it move a lot faster!

Im glad you guys like it Cheesy
