Wow, I am super impressed with the crafty swaps thus far!  They surely have put to shame anything I would've made had I not dropped outta the swap.

Can't wait to see the rest of them!
23  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Guro Goldilocks / A Mauled Maiden oh noes! on: November 01, 2009 08:10:33 PM
I have been doing Lolita style Hallowe'en costumes for the past 4 years now, so I figured I'd go at it again this year, but this is the first time I added a bit of a horrific twist.  Last Halloween I got some prosthetics  for my roommate, and she never used them.  So I still have a burn scar/gouged/shredded kits.  I used the shredded kit to get the effect of a bear claw tearing my tender faceflesh to bits!  I've never used prosthetics before and didn't even have everything I needed to pull it off (read: spirit gum), but with more practice I'm sure I can get it to eventually look better.

I made the dress, bow, and capelet.  I didn't use a pattern for any of it.  I love the capelet, though the shoulders are a little too puffy/misplaced.  I would have used blood gel on my face, but because I actually would wear this outfit in a non-costume/Hallowe'en situation, I didn't want to get it stained.  The gauze fabric I got at Hancock, which was really cool and 99c a yard and figured would add to the look.  Of course when Saturday rolled around and I wanted to tie on my capelet, the blasted ribbons completely shredded!  Oh well, I used a safety pin...

I entered a costume contest with a friend (who got a LOT of attention dressing as Lady Gaga hehe) and apparently TIME and SKILL and EFFORT are not aspects of a costume a drunken crowd of judges appreciates! =\

Wif my guy =3

My friend's creepy bat cave of a basement

And his equally creepy kitchen

Hope you all had a happy and spooky Hallowe'en!
24  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Daria Swap (Sendout 2 NOV 2009) on: October 29, 2009 06:26:10 PM
I'm so sorry my partner and I had to drop outta the swap.  I suppose i can tell you what I was going to make...

I was going to craft a Macbook cozy/carrier--one side styled like Daria's Green Coat/Orange shirt, and the other side with Jane's Red Overshirt/Black shirt.  It was gonna be really cool!  Then I was gonna make an ipod holder in tiger stripe--like Jane's failed "Lady and the Tiger" hairstyle.  I was going to make something else but hadn't figured out what it would be, hah.

Can't wait to see the results!

Wow, this is amazing for it only being your second blouse.  I suck at making (lolita) blouses.

Fantastic job (and great coordinate!)

Wow, this is really beautiful.  Those pleats? AMAZING.

Your attention to detail is spectacular.  I bow to you.

Wonderful, wonderful work.
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Professional Photoshoot! (photo pudgy) on: October 04, 2009 12:39:12 AM
On Sept 19 I had a really great photoshoot with Lone Wolf Studios, a husband-wife duo.  I brought along my assistant and his daughter, who ended up being my wardrobe helper Smiley  We met up at a park, and I got to hang around in the kids' huge jungle gym, but trying to shoot around children is quite difficult and patience-trying x_x

This Fawn dress I made a few months ago and just absolutely love it.  I got the fabric from superbuzzy.com

I was balancing on something about ten feet off the ground.  Thankfully I didn't fall off!

Unfortunately I'm too tall for playgrounds  Embarrassed

Then we moseyed on over to the graveyard right next door (strange placement...jungle gym...graveyard, makes sense!!!!not really) in a dress I made for myself for Christmas 2007.  This is my favorite photo of me. of.all.time.  I look good doing couture pose!

She'd brought some props, too, so we got some interesting shots with a lantern, though the effect in daylight isn't the same:

My assistant's daughter first noticed this tree after we thought we were done shooting, but we just HAD to get a shot of this creepy tree!  It was on an incline, so I nearly broke my ankles trying to sit/get up  Undecided

I <3 my blue hair....AND we got to see a Blue Heron on the river!  I've never seen one in person before, and then it flew around for a while.  HUGE BIRD.

I thought the rose garden was very Alice in Wonderlandy

Down at the quasi-beach.  So beautiful.

This is one of my favorite shots from the photoshoot, too.

Here's also a sneak peek at some shoots a couple models just did, too!

The lovely Rose Froze in Arizona

And beautiful Necromantis in a shoot she did all herself (modeling AND photography, girl's talented!)

I have a photoshoot coming up on Oct 17 with a girl in Dubuque, IA and I am VERY excited!  It's going to be a wacky weekend (first weekend trip with the new boyfriend...)!  Comments and critiques very much appreciated!

He looks like he's gonna beat me up if i get too close.

I love the fin.  the little bead-looking details on his arms/head/torso are neat.
