This year, inspired by a costume I had seen on cosplay.com, I decided to do a Mad Hatter costume.



Everything was made from scratch except for the mask and gloves.  I started work on September, and was painting the final coat on the cane the night before Halloween.









The cane was the most fun to make.  I used floral foam and gesso to make the tea pot.  Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of it.



I wore the costume out to a party Friday night, with the mask, and to my own birthday party on Sunday, without the mask.  While I really like how the costume looked with the mask, it was hard to see out of at night, and was quite warm.  But overall, I think the costume really turned out well.

So I've spent most of today working on my garter, but I'm not sure what to do now.




This is the garter.  I'm quite pleased with how it looks.  I bought some matching ribbon a while back and used that on the sides.



I messed up when I was cutting out the ivory part, so I had to find some way to give it more length.  That ended up with me making these snap bits.  You can see the elastic where I cut and added this piece.  But what this ended up allowing me to do was to hold the green part in place without having to sew it.  So I can take the two pieces apart.  I think I'll have my hubby throw the green part so I can keep the ivory part.  It was kind of an ingenious idea.


But what I'm not sure about is whether I want to try and add more flowers to the rest of the garter.  I wouldn't add them like this, but it would give a similar effect.

So what do you guys think? Should I add more flowers or stop with it the way that it is now?

So I've been a lurker on these forums for a while now, but I finally have something that I'm proud to share with all of you talented people.

My wedding is in August, and after about 6 months of putting it off, I knew that I couldn't any longer.




I started cutting the dress on Sunday, and just finished sewing it today.  I'm so happy with it, it came out just as I hoped it would.
