1  Beaded beads? in Beads: Completed Projects by hotpinkfluff on: June 06, 2008 07:41:52 AM
I'd like to know what exactly do you call these:

(image taken from www.davikinyc.com please tell me if i'm not allowed to do this!)

I've been searching craftster for "beaded ball(s)" and "beaded bead(s)" and "crystal ball(s)" but nothing similar comes up. I would like to make something like that and I'm not giving up hope that there might be a tutorial here somewhere Smiley What keywords should I put in, or does anyone know how to make these? Smiley

And just so this is not a question only post, here's something I made the other night. Quite uninspired but I'm proud of it Smiley

3  Beaded cuff! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hotpinkfluff on: April 25, 2008 04:46:50 AM

My first attempt at making a beaded cuff... and the last one for now. My eyes are still strained really bad! Still, not too shabby for a first attempt (I think). Smiley Comments please!

Edit:
Here's an action shot

4  More earring experiments in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hotpinkfluff on: April 24, 2008 04:04:13 AM
I posted the first picture along with a question in the beading discussion page but thought to share it again along with some other pairs of earrings I made. As always, (constructive) criticism and comments are always welcome!

First ever beadwoven earrings. I know I'm not supposed to ask questions here, but could anyone please tell me if there's a way to keep the woven part from slipping off the focal bead?

More wirework and beads. I used rose quartz, Swarovski crystals, and a light pink focal bead for these. I think the copper wire adds a pleasant contrast to the otherwise pastel theme, but maybe that's just me getting used to the combination of colors. What do you think?

An experiment on hoops. Personally I think it looks quite bare, you think I should add more?

5  Three earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hotpinkfluff on: April 18, 2008 12:38:50 PM

Made with copper wire, seed beads, and Swarovski crystals

An attempt at beadweaving. Amethyst focal bead surrounded by bugle beads and pearl accents. I'm not particularly happy with this one as the seed beads tend to "bend" and be all floppy. Must. Improve!

Here's an attempt at wirework. Copper wire, glass and Swarovski crystals. I enjoyed making this pair, although I think the design would work better as a bracelet. What do you think? Smiley

6  Question on tension in Beads: Discussion and Questions by hotpinkfluff on: April 18, 2008 12:26:27 PM
I'm quite new to beadweaving and I was wondering whether there is a *particular* definition of what tension is. Like how loose or how tight it should be for all projects, or whether it depends on what you are making. The first stitch I've ever done successfully is the circular brickstitch, and it looks like this.

I made the stitches on that real tight because having it too loose makes the smaller beads slip off the side of the focal bead (which is flat, if it's not clear in the picture). I'd really like to get better at this! Thanks in advance for reading (and replying). Smiley

7  Glue for felt? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by hotpinkfluff on: March 19, 2007 09:58:53 AM
I recently tried to make beaded rosettes on felt and was successful with that, but I wanted to hide the stitches at the back, so I tried to glue it to another piece of felt. However, the glue wouldn't hold the two pieces together. :/ Am I doing something wrong? Is there a special kind of glue for felt (It's my first time working with this kind of material)? Are there any alternatives for this kind of glue (hot glue, rubber cement...)? I'm planning on making bracelets out of these. Smiley

Here's a picture of the rosette I'm talking about. It's sitting on top of another piece of felt which, despite hours and hours of sandwiching between heavy books, wouldn't stick. :/
