no - I've never tried it for real. I found a great site for patterns though. The link is on my site with the project.

Before & after...

a little bit of bleach pen & mehndi  inspiration. This dated, old tube top was on it's way to the charity bin now I can't wait to wear it out! I think I may add halter style straps, coming out from the middle at the front by a large wooden bead.

There is a tutorial on my site on the diy page. Cheers!

I tried another - this time cherry blossoms - I can't stop - no plain shirt is safe!

That is awesome!!! I'm off to the thrift shop right now to find a suitable shirt! You used a good one!

Yup. I took off the arms, made them slimmer & shorter.

Take one thrift shop blazer; good fabric a must! + mis-matched vintage buttons, ribbon & a sequined applique in the same colour scheme. Snip, rip & stitch, trying on frequently to get that perfect snug fit.

=my fav new clothing item: a cute shrunken blazer.

Sorry no tutorial, just an excerpt from my journal. Every jacket is different. I kept all the edges rough ( I will rue the day when this rough, deconstructed look is no longer in vogue & I will actually have to learn to sew!) & used a zig-zag stitch in constrasting blue thread around all the outside edges for a decorative effect, as well as for keeping the edges from fraying.

Here are the close-ups:

How lovely! Do you think this would be an OK project for a beginner? I've only just begun to sew and have thusfar only made pillows and purses. I love the Jazz Era, and would love to add something like this to my wardrobe!

Totally perfect for a beginner project! I made this yesterday, sans straps, - sooo easy!

I haven't posted a project in a while but I have been makin' stuff. I made this 20's inspired, drop waist top for my sis for Christmas & she loved it. I think I'm going to make one for myself.

Wow! Great job - especially the second one. I was shopping today trying on sexy tops & either my bra or boobs were hanging out. I love how yours is so sexy & fits so well!

I like to flutter around in my jeans, but works well for a very dressy outing too.
