1  Re: Lady Eleanor Round 2? in Knitalongs by kbelle on: August 28, 2007 04:39:07 PM
I made a smaller version as well as a scarf for a friend.  It's a Christmas gift and I am so excited to have it finished already!  She knows she is getting a knitted gift so I might send it early so she can use it during the long Colorado winter.

Used 3.5 skiens Patons SWS in Earth

2  EZ February baby sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by kbelle on: June 21, 2007 05:19:46 AM
I love when someone I know is having a little girl, because this sweater makes me so happy.

Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmermann's baby sweater on 2 needles (practically seamless) from Knitters Almanac
Yarn: Caron Simply soft, which is worsted.  I like the drape of this better with DK, but this was a stashbuster
Needles: Size 5 knitpicks
Mods: I only added 2 buttons and did not do the decreases for the bottom band, because I flat out forgot.

3  Flair by Knit & Tonic in Knitting: Completed Projects by kbelle on: May 23, 2007 05:19:53 AM
Hooray!  My first sweater!  Cheesy

I had to add a bit of length but as it was top down that was easy to do.  Maybe it was row gauge, maybe I have a freakishly long torso.  Who knows?

Pattern: Flair from Knit and tonic http://knitandtonic.typepad.com/knitandtonic/2007/02/flair.html

Yarn: Blue Sky Organic Dyed Cotton in Toffee

Needles: Size 8 Knitpicks options

Hi kbelle, I pretty much followed the pattern as is...just took a quick measurement and it is about 17.5 inches for mine.  Since I like it short as a layering piece the length doesnt bother me much.  Do u think it's a row gauge thing (since I never swatch for row gauge Cheesy))

I used the recommended yarn, but it could be row gauge.  At any rate it's a top down raglan so adding or subtracting length is no biggie.

It's done!!

I added 2 extra inches before starting the seed stitch border.

I still don't think it will be as great as I expected it to be.

Well, here is the progress that I have photographed.  I'm now a few inches below the armpits... maybe 2.5?  I tried it on at this point and it fits but will be fitted across the chest.  I measure a 38.5 and I am knitting the 40.  I think it will fit just right across the chest and will be a tad tight on my sausage arms, which is my own fault.   Tongue

Anyways, pictures:

Doesn't look like much.  Adding the collar will help a lot with the appearance I think.

So far the pattern has been good.  I think the buttons are too close on the "larger" sizes.  I'm making a medium and I will have all 5 buttons done way before I am close to the bottom.  Other than that, the pattern is very easy to follow.  I like that the increases to give it swing are hidden below the arms.

7  Wandering Aran Fields in Knitting: Completed Projects by kbelle on: April 12, 2007 06:22:31 AM
I made this capelet from Wrap Style for my grandmother... she's always cold and the Aran motif in cream reminds me of Irish fisherman's sweaters that my grandfather wore.  Finished up just in time for her birthday.

Pattern: Wandering Aran Fields by Norah Gaughan in Wrap Style
Yarn: Patons Classic Merino Wool (I think in Aran)
Needles: Knitpicks options in size 6-8

And, my littlest cat decided to pose with it, so here is some cuteness...

9  Knitty's Best Friend Purse in Knitting: Completed Projects by kbelle on: April 01, 2007 04:21:48 PM
MJ trim had run out of the 5 inch frame, so I made it on the 6 inch and amazingly only needed to go up one needle size and not adjust the pattern at all.  The lining is proof positive that I am a knitter and not a seamstress, but oh well... the bff will love it, I hope.

There are so many cute things in this book.  I work in a ridiculously cold office, and I think I NEED this.

I need to finish a few projects and pick up the book.  I have way more knitting aspirations then time, so I'll probably lurk and ooh and ahh as you all make progress.
