11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 2x2 rib hat... how do you decrease them? on: December 02, 2007 10:59:55 AM
That's what I do too, Annchen, except that I alternate between reducing purl rows and knit rows.

The advantage to adding rounds with no decreases in between is that you are not decreasing so quickly that your hat is "gathered" looking on top.

Good luck!

I thought that the vest was too short, too.  Although it wasn't the train wreck that many of the others showed, I thought that the whole thing looked a little over-done.  Has anyone else noticed how often Kevin mentions that he's straight?

I was kind of glad to see Carmen go, she was not my favorite.  I also would have been ok with Ricky going, he cries on Every Show!

That's a great hat!  Your brother is LUCKY!

That's funny, sulkykat, I work in one of THOSE schools too.  I find that knitting/quiet time is really important for decompression.  I guess this might be a luxury for some but I think it's necessary for me.

That's an excellent point.

I actually had to root for Eliza a little bit because I don't know where she's from but she's SOOOOO Northern California!  I swear I know like 25 "multi-media" artists just like her from work and school, etc.  She is probably just around for comic relief, though.  Like Vincent from season 3.

I thought that Rami's dress was beautiful but I was sure that they were going to say it was too safe.  I guess you can get away with safe for the first couple while they weed out the weakest candidates.

My boyfriend is totally hooked too and still talks about how much he hates Jeffrey!  We would have these long debates about Jeffrey vs. Laura.  True love!!

At some point it became cool to be really busy or talk about how busy you are.  I try really hard not to book myself so heavily that I can't knit or read or do relaxing loner things and people look at me like I'm a total felon.  I think that some people equate "busy" with "popular" or "important" and get themselves so overcommitted that they get crabby and resentful.  I think that it's healthier to be able to say no and give yourself some down-time  (or, to keep this knitting oriented, "ease")

Your sweater is beautiful!  I like this better than the original.  Good job!

This is really beautiful.  It looks like it will be really versatile, too!  Good job!

What an awesome post!  Thank you so much all who contributed!

I am not the size of the models even in the knitting books and magazines and have been poring over this eagerly.
