1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking for vintage reproduction halter dress pattern on: August 25, 2008 09:35:41 PM
Thanks for all of your help!  I finally figured it out.  Oddly enough, someone had posted a picture of their repro lot on a vintage website. It's Butterick 6174.  Now I can stop going crazy trying to figure it out.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Looking for vintage reproduction halter dress pattern on: July 27, 2008 08:14:38 PM
I'm hoping that someone on here remembers this dress pattern that I just have to find.  I know it was made by one of the big 4 pattern companies sometime around 2000-2002.  It is a reproduction from a 40s or 50s button down halter dress.  I tried googling it but haven't found it.  It was out of print by early 2003 at the latest.  For the life of me I cannot remember the pattern number or who made it.  I'm 99.9 % sure that it was Butterick. TIA!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: 1940s/50s Patterns? on: July 11, 2008 10:23:38 PM
I'm a fan of the Lutterloh system.  So far I've only made 2 shirts but I'm pleased overall.  Granted it's a little more work as you have to draft your own pattern.  But drafting with this system is pretty much connect the dots.  I've found a bunch of the books on Ebay which are not cheap but now I have a whole collection of patterns from the 40s and 50s that I can make for any size.
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Does anyone have the free download of Hotpatterns Nairobi bag? on: July 11, 2008 10:10:50 PM
I saw a review of this bag online and fell in love with it.  Unfortunately Hotpatterns offered it as a free download quite awhile ago and I've just discovered their patterns recently.  I would love to have a copy if anyone still has it.  Thanks so much Smiley

I have used 2 shirt patterns from the vintage books.  It worked well for me.  I found that it works the best if you have a manequin as they don't show dart placements.
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Gypsy Dia De Los Muertos Tattoo embroidery on: May 09, 2008 06:47:54 PM
Truly beautiful work.  This gets a "This Rocks!".  The back looks nearly as good as the front.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Crafter Public Service Announcement on: March 15, 2008 10:25:35 PM
Thank you for your support.   Smiley  I wish it hadn't happened but if this post can protect one person then I'll be happier.  I'm currently looking into legal options and reporting her to Ebay, Yahoo and basically anywhere I can so that others won't fall for her scam.
8  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: CRAFT PAD available! And Updates... on: March 14, 2008 09:03:18 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing the new designs.  Barnes and Noble give a March 27 date.  Has anyone seen it in the store yet?
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafter Public Service Announcement on: March 13, 2008 07:58:15 PM
I'm sorry if this is off topic but I wanted to relate a situation that I would like to spare my fellow Crafsters from.  Basically, I was swindled out of $240 by a fellow crafter from one of my Yahoo groups.  She was offering to sell several volumes of the vintage sewing pattern books that I collect and stupidly I sent a check.  Not only have I not received anything, but I believe those same items are listed on Ebay.

What I'm saying is that there are people who give crafters a bad name and ruin it for the rest of us who are honest.  Please do not send anyone money that you do not know or buy anything from a place that you are not protected.  I knew this but I fell for it anyway. If anyone has any ideas about how I could recoup my money, I would be grateful.  Don't let yourself be disllusioned like I am.
10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Re: Does ANYONE digitize? Or is it all just a myth? on: February 27, 2008 09:07:37 AM
I digitize (when I'm not being lazy).  I digitize tattoo art.  It's definitely something you need to practice.  I have a Husqvarna as well.  Did you do the tutorial that comes with the disk?  I found the manual with the step by step pictures to be very helpful.  When you scan in your own design, you have to make sure that each section is colored in.
