21  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: baby boy nursery in AQUA! on: February 25, 2008 02:41:29 PM
Looks fantastic!!!!
I have a few questions:
Did you do the artwork on that painting?
That quilt hanging on the chair, is it handmade? Can we see a closeup of it?
Where did you get the striped fabric?
Did you make the sheets yourself? If so is it hard?

thanks again girls!

i did do the painting. i've been debating on whether i want to add little houses all over the hills...haven't decided on that yet. Smiley
i purchased the quilt on the chair. it's from this brand called Not Neutral...totally overpaid for it, but i love it! there are quilted cars and trucks all over it! http://www.notneutral.com/product_info.php?products_id=404
i purchased the striped fabric from a local quilt store in phoenix. i've also found it here: http://printscharming.com.au/cart/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=2 but it looks like they're sold out. it's in the free spirit line made by prints charming.
the fitted sheet is the one thing i didn't end up having to make, which was nice. although a friend made hers and said it's extremely easy! i think she used a simplicity pattern she purchased from joann's. i was lucky enough to find the polka dotted sheet at babies r us and it matched my green color perfectly!!

the painting was a total coincidence! i had made it a year or so ago just for fun...wanted to add little houses all over the hills, but never really finished it. then i got pregnant...we painted the room, and it just so happened to match the room so well!! i'm still debating on adding the houses... we'll see.

i'm going to be working on the nursery this weekend so i'll post more pictures as i go! thanks for all your comments! i really like that it's a fresh palette. i have so many ideas...i wish i could do them all at once!!  Smiley

thanks again!!
25  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / baby boy nursery in AQUA! image heavy!! on: February 18, 2008 04:01:11 PM
we are expecting a little boy in may and this is our first. i'm so excited since i've been crafting for friends' little ones in the past year and now i get to make things for my own little one! we are so thrilled and i've been coming up with ideas left and right!! i'll try to document my progress of the nursery in this post...hope you don't mind me sharing with you all!!

okay, so i didn't want an overly masculine baby boy's room, but i also didn't want baby blue all over the place either. it took me FOREVER to decide on the fabrics, but i finally managed to pick out a fun and bright striped pattern and pulled my paint color from there. the paint is more of an aqua green/blue...than just light blue.

here's my progress so far...

hubby did a GREAT job painting. the room's a mess...but it's a start!

the other (empty) side of the room. i will be adding white shelving and artwork...and of course we're still in need of a dresser.

yay! done with the cribskirt. it just lays flat with a box pleat in the center of each side.

crib bumper...wip:

crib ties...couldn't decide on shiny ribbon or fabric ties...i'm leaning towards the fabric ties:

pinning baby quilt:

free-motion quilting:

now all i have left is curtains, pillows, nursing cover, boppy cover, baby mobile, diaper bag......*sigh*

as i posted this i realized that there's not much decorating going on just yet....but more of making the individual pieces. i will continue to update with more pictures until the nursery is all done!! Smiley

thanks for looking!

closet wall...the orange painting made by me...along with the bunting.

hubby's teddy when he was a baby is sitting on the changing pad. little sock monster and skelly bunny made my a friend on the far left corner. big birdhouse painted by a friend for the baby shower centerpieces

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: ribbon scarf - Tutorial on: January 09, 2008 07:30:50 PM
hi there, you can actually find the "paper" at joann. that's what i use. i've attached the link below:

it's not sticky, but you can sew the ribbon to the the paper and then go back and forth in the grid motion.

hope that helps.

You mention a "trim boutique"called Mokuba. I have been trying to ocate this place for months. Can you please help me. I am looking for one of their products which is an adhesive paper which can be used to make scarves such as you have made. Yours is gorgeous!!!! Thank you.

I got this tattoo last year, its a sugar skull with a popadour. It has since been finished. When the picture was taken, all the roses hadn't been colored in yet. Oh, and the hair is purple now. That hadn't been done yet either!

this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! love the color combo! i'm a huge fan of day of the dead and also have a skull tattoo...on my back. Smiley thanks for sharing!
