In Literature this term we're doing a book-study-kind-of-thing on the Hobbit. As part of this, our teacher is having us make papier-mâché characters from the book. It has to be papier-mâché, which blows. I ended up cheating on the arms, though, because it's not like you can really see them anyway and I was too lazy to figure something else out.

P.S. This was my first go at making a hat and my first go at making anything with sleeves. AND IT GOT BOTH ON THE FIRST TRY, which pretty much boggled my mind because I was setting myself up for a huge let down. So that was nice :] Oh, and the staff was loosely based on a Harry Potter wand I saw on here some time ago.

Anywaaaaay, this isn't due until February first, so does anyone have any sggestions as to how I could improve him?

I whipped this little baby up last night using an old spaceship... figurine(?) I found in a basket of craft stuff my mom got whilst flea marketing 

Materials:
Spaceship (or stealth bomber. The jury's still out on that one.)
E6000 Glue (about $7 at Walmart. Works on everything.)
   Not necessary, but a toothpick comes in handy when you spread the glue.

They're cheap-o, straight from party city. I bought some and now I don't know what to do with them! I was going to make gift bags for my friends but then I was like "Could be considered stalkerish and its too damn time consuming aaaand candy isn't cheap...

I really love ^that^ scarf and I'm thinking of making it for a friend for Christmas this year... Is that knitted or crocheted? And If it is indeed knitted, how would I go about duplicating that effect? (Just the names of the stitches used would be great, but further instruction would be even better!)

ANY help is greatly appreciated. I'm new to knitting and don't know much.

My sister, Rachael, is turning 24 on August 6, 2007.
She's going into nursing school in Philadelphia where she has an apartment.
She's not one of those TOTALLY girly girls, but she's plenty femenine.
She likes booze (currently working part-time as a bartender) but I've already gotten her a liquor carousel and drink handbook.
She likes music ranging from The Postal Service to what's on CMT to Journey to Usher.
She values her looks and takes great care in preening and grooming herself.
(But she worked at Bath & Body Works for a time and still has lots of booty left over from the employee discounts.)
I think that may sum her up?

My mother is 55 years old (still with the times and whatnot, mind you) and I haven't got the slighest idea as to what to get/make her from Mother's Day. And in case I decide to do something crazy and long, I'm starting to plan now. So, any ideas!? I think she'd really appreciate something semi-homemade, if not completely homemade. Any and/or all help is appreciated greatly. (Just so you know, she is my only ride. I am not yet eligible from a lisence, if that would affect something in some way. )

I want to get my mother a little something for Valentine's Day, seeing as last year she bought me a sterio. And I know she would make me return whatever I got her if it was over $15 or so. Anything I can make that she'd appreciate?

First off, My apologies for being so naive.
Second, For those of you with shops (not just Etsy, any shops):
What are the necessities? Obviously you need things to sell, a camera to upload pictures, and things of that sort. Anything I'm missing? A closet's worth of boxes for shipping? (Also on that shipping note, you just weigh the export at the post office plus $x for your trouble, right?)
