1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Coupla three rings. Like a circus but nothing like that. on: February 14, 2014 06:28:39 PM
I'm thinking of re-opening my Etsy account and am beginning to stockpile.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I got some copper and a mini kitchen blow torch. . . on: March 24, 2012 12:22:32 PM
And made this bracelet.

I also found out how not hard weaving with wire is and made these rings.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Balling wire with torch-- only works with sterling silver? on: March 20, 2012 12:30:58 PM
Anytime I've seen this technique demonstrated, it's always with sterling silver wire. I can see how craft wire wouldn't work since this is usually coated copper or brass and the coating will mess that up. But what about copper or brass or gold filled or fine silver?

These hairpins need some refinement but I got the idea for them when I read the challenge and so I'm putting them in.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / What is the difference between an Artisan and a Craftsman? on: August 22, 2011 06:00:59 AM
Friends will tell me that I'm an artist. This is because they are my friends and are perhaps slightly biased. I always counter that no, I'm a craftsman. Then I jokingly tell them it's because I didn't go to art school. Still, I feel uncomfortable calling myself an artist and I'm not sure why. If I had a clearly defined definition of the difference. . ..

What, to you, is the difference between an artisan and a craftsman?

6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 65 ENTRIES / Coasters (for beer) on: August 02, 2011 11:57:43 AM
They don't have to be for beer but beer is good.

Thanks for looking.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Some one asked me a looooooong time ago about this. on: July 12, 2011 08:02:11 AM

Like two years ago or maybe longer, I made keychains with the same kebob as in the above earrings. Someone asked how I got the marble to stay inside. The trick is to use 18 gauge or larger wire, hammer the swirls before putting the marble in. Secure the marble as best as possible (use needlenosed pliers if necessary) within the spiral and-- very important-- use the tail as the final marble holder.

A tutorial:

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / I sure hope I'm not repeating an often asked question (wooden box) on: July 10, 2011 08:20:42 AM
I did look through the tutorials and didn't see what I'm looking for-- the easiest way to make a wooden box. I do have access to a chop saw and electric drills. I've got a decorative storage idea that is basically boxes bolted together. Industrial and streamlined, I'm hoping.

But I'm an absolute noob woodworker and need very simple and easy instructions on how to make that most basic of woodworking thingies-- a box. Any help would be most appreciated.
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Mixed media experiment on: July 07, 2011 08:22:26 AM

Do you ever get an image in your head that you want to re-create but you're not sure how to go about it? Well, I've got a 'shattered glass' earring in my head. These earrings were an experiment to see if I could use mosaic glass in the way I imagined.

This is a piece of cardboard painted black on both sides with mosaic glass on both sides wrapped with colored brass wire. The experiment was a partial success. I wonder if I can do the same with wood veneer. . ..
