1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Coug Fest 2010. Need some ideas! on: March 29, 2010 05:37:16 PM
My friend's birthday is coming up in May and I thought I'd get a head start on her gift. Her theme is 'Coug Fest 2010' which is a running joke with our friends that she is a 'cougar' (a woman who likes to date younger guys).

To continue with this theme, I thought I'd make her a 'Cougar Kit' with all the essentials she will need for when shes on the prowl or just for fun haha.

Some ideas I have are:
-Cheetah print pillow with her name on it for her Cougar den. Looking something like this:

-Little Black Book
-A sign to put up saying Danger! Cougars in area: Proceed with caution or Cougar Crossing:

-Maybe a t-shirt saying Cougars night out or Cougar on the prowl
-Feather boa
-The movie 'The Graduate'
-I found cheetah print undies at Wal-Mart for $1  Grin

Does anyone have any other ideas? I cant seem to think anymore. Thanks in advance Smiley
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Need help with Super Trooper costume! on: October 05, 2009 10:01:12 PM
So my boyfriend and some friends want to go as Super Troopers this halloween. The outfit is easy but I don't know what to do for the hat! I've searched online and they are pretty expensive. I believe they are called 'Felt Campaign Hats'.

Here is a picture:

Sorry it's so small.

I'm thinking my best bet is cardboard and felt? I want to make it look good though. Any ideas?
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Decorating boards at work - Mario Theme on: August 27, 2008 05:09:12 PM
I need to borrow your creative minds for a minute...

At work I am in charge of decorating this board to show new employees that they can move up in our company. So, basically I will be picking a couple people who have started as a Level One and moved up to management, etc. Finding the people isn't hard as there are many who have moved up. However, I need some creative ideas to show this.

I was thinking about using the starting map in Super Mario 3 and placing each person at certain levels to show where they have gotten to. Above each person I will have some text saying their current position and how long they have been with our company.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Smiley

Thanks in advance!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My 'new' dresser on: July 01, 2008 01:03:51 PM
My Dad came home with this dresser he bought at a garage sale for $4. I've been looking into buying a smaller one (mine was a HUGE antique dresser) and thought I would try and refinish it. I've never done anything like this before so I'm pretty proud of myself.

Here is the before:

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Decorating Advice Needed (Lots of Pics) on: May 08, 2008 12:10:43 AM
I'm moving in a couple months and am trying to sort out my bedroom decor scheme now for the sake of savings and crafting projects.

I am obsessed with Damask anything; the 'colour' scheme black, white & grey; mixing contemporary & ornamental pieces. I really want my bedroom to be a nice place were I relax, hang out with friends and that looks elegant.

So here are some pictures I made up:

This will be the accent wall. I found wallpaper online that is very similar to my duvet I have now. I have matching pillow shams but I thought all the print might be too much for this focal point. I want to use the matching duvet cover more as a throw and have a white duvet and shams as the main bedding.

This is my dressing table/vanity. I want to find a fancy mirror at a thrift store or garage sale and paint it white. As you can see, the wall is rather boring and bare. Any suggestions on what else to do? Perhaps continue the damask panelling?

Seating Area for guests/late night studying.

And here is the bar area (Also, my biggest problem). I want to design and built the bar myself. Most likely out of MDF or whatever Dad has around. I cannot seem to pick what feels right for the room. Which do you prefer?

Option One.

Option Two.

Option Three.

And the 'sample' board:

The design is obviously not final so any suggestions or opinions would be lovely  Wink. Perhaps any suggested crafting projects...such as, what to do with extra wallpaper  Tongue Thanks in advance!
6  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Pin-Up Girl Blouse on: December 23, 2007 09:46:56 AM
So I found this cute pink chiffon button down shirt and I absolutely adore it. However, I don't feel like shelling out the $52.00 plus shipping to get it. I've been looking around for sewing patterns but nothing I've found seems to look as similar. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions?

Here is the shirt:

Also, does anyone know of a good stencil site? I love the idea of the swans.

Thanks in advance Smiley
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dollhouse into Shoe Rack? on: December 09, 2007 11:54:03 AM
To make a long story short: guys are terrible, my doll house was kind of ruined, and I really need a shoe rack for my front closet. Does it look silly to you? Or could it work?

I'm trying to decide if people will enter my apartment and think I'm strange.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Transforming a boring bed on: November 29, 2007 06:42:10 AM
In January I'm moving into my first apartment *Excitement*. However, now I'm in desperate need of a bigger bed and greatly lacking in funds  Embarrassed

This is the bed I want:

And this is what I can afford:

Not bad for $89.00, but definitely not the look I am trying to achieve. I was thinking about cutting the extra little end pieces off and painting it a black-brown:

However, after that I am stumped Huh If I could remove the six metal bars, I was thinking about adding some fabric panels. But then again, I'm on a tight budget.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance  Smiley
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Bookmark on: November 26, 2007 01:24:48 PM
I've been on a crafting frenzy lately. So much that I'm running out of materials and ideas. So today I decided to make my friend a bookmark to kind of match the scrapbook I made her for Christmas (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=210162.msg2252664#msg2252664)

And here's the bookmark:

Sorry about the bad picture, my camera was dying.
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Cuba Scrapbook on: November 26, 2007 10:13:34 AM
I'm a little intimidated by all of your beautiful creations. This is my first attempt at scrapbooking  Roll Eyes

I decided to make a Cuba Scrapbook for my best friend. She's been talking about going to Cuba for the past little while and I'm hoping this will be a nice push haha.

The cover:

First Page:

The side says "Photos" in case you can't read it.

Second Page:

The side says "Drinks" and the stickers say "It's party time"

Third page:

The side says "Water"

And the back:

There are more pages but you get the idea. I also left her some empty pages to create her own design and I'm giving her some stickers and scrapbook paper to do so.
