1  Coug Fest 2010. Need some ideas! in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by 80sgirl on: March 29, 2010 05:37:16 PM
My friend's birthday is coming up in May and I thought I'd get a head start on her gift. Her theme is 'Coug Fest 2010' which is a running joke with our friends that she is a 'cougar' (a woman who likes to date younger guys).

To continue with this theme, I thought I'd make her a 'Cougar Kit' with all the essentials she will need for when shes on the prowl or just for fun haha.

Some ideas I have are:
-Cheetah print pillow with her name on it for her Cougar den. Looking something like this:

-Little Black Book
-A sign to put up saying Danger! Cougars in area: Proceed with caution or Cougar Crossing:

-Maybe a t-shirt saying Cougars night out or Cougar on the prowl
-Feather boa
-The movie 'The Graduate'
-I found cheetah print undies at Wal-Mart for $1  Grin

Does anyone have any other ideas? I cant seem to think anymore. Thanks in advance Smiley

2  Need help with Super Trooper costume! in Halloween Costumes by 80sgirl on: October 05, 2009 10:01:12 PM
So my boyfriend and some friends want to go as Super Troopers this halloween. The outfit is easy but I don't know what to do for the hat! I've searched online and they are pretty expensive. I believe they are called 'Felt Campaign Hats'.

Here is a picture:

Sorry it's so small.

I'm thinking my best bet is cardboard and felt? I want to make it look good though. Any ideas?

3  Re: Christmas 2009, what are you making? in Winter Holidays by 80sgirl on: October 04, 2009 03:02:11 PM
I'm so happy I found this post! Lately I`ve been having such a craving to get started on my Christmas Crafting! Here is my list below (If I have time, I will add more):

Family

Mom Works in a Day Care (which she is always doing crafts for them). Likes to relax on the couch and watch movies. Already has a cozy blanket (last year's Christmas present from Dad) and a magic bag. Doesn't really like ornaments. Trying to watch her weight.

Dad This is a tough one; he`s so hard to buy for! Enjoys going to the movies, garage sales, auction sales, hunting, antiques and the Blue Collar Comedy. He is not really into music or sports. Works as a carpenter but dreams of owning his own auction company. Maybe something to motivate him to start his business?

Brother 25 years old. He plays bass in a band, loves to party, allergic to pretty much everything (food wise).  Maybe something for his band?

Friends

Boyfriend Loves sports (they are his life). He plays baseball, polo, golf, curling, etc. (I have the logo to one of his teams on my computer if that helps?). Likes anything chocolate and peanut butter. We always talk about places we want to go, so maybe something for travel?

Friend 1 18 years old. Girly, likes to party, loves anything with a zebra print. Might be going to college next year. I think I might bake something and put together a kit with nail polish, make up, etc. Maybe a zebra make up bag??

Friend 2 23 years old. Loves pink, stars, country music, likes to party. She just moved into her boyfriend's house. He owns a farm and she is just getting into baking. No sweets, though, she is on WW. Maybe a gift for the two of them? Or an apron like this but with pink stars:

I promise I have more friends. I will add them later  Cheesy

Roomies

I have 3 and am still getting to know their personalities. I might do a little basket for them with goodies?

Work

Managers A plate of goodies. Food doesn't last long when they are around!
Coworkers I'm closer to Maybe a mug with hot chocolate mix, marshmallows and a thing of cookies?

Suggestions welcome  Smiley

Can't wait to see pictures of everyone's final results!

5  Decorating boards at work - Mario Theme in Discussion and Questions by 80sgirl on: August 27, 2008 05:09:12 PM
I need to borrow your creative minds for a minute...

At work I am in charge of decorating this board to show new employees that they can move up in our company. So, basically I will be picking a couple people who have started as a Level One and moved up to management, etc. Finding the people isn't hard as there are many who have moved up. However, I need some creative ideas to show this.

I was thinking about using the starting map in Super Mario 3 and placing each person at certain levels to show where they have gotten to. Above each person I will have some text saying their current position and how long they have been with our company.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Smiley

Thanks in advance!

6  My 'new' dresser in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 80sgirl on: July 01, 2008 01:03:51 PM
My Dad came home with this dresser he bought at a garage sale for $4. I've been looking into buying a smaller one (mine was a HUGE antique dresser) and thought I would try and refinish it. I've never done anything like this before so I'm pretty proud of myself.

Here is the before:

7  Decorating Advice Needed (Lots of Pics) in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by 80sgirl on: May 08, 2008 12:10:43 AM
I'm moving in a couple months and am trying to sort out my bedroom decor scheme now for the sake of savings and crafting projects.

I am obsessed with Damask anything; the 'colour' scheme black, white & grey; mixing contemporary & ornamental pieces. I really want my bedroom to be a nice place were I relax, hang out with friends and that looks elegant.

So here are some pictures I made up:

This will be the accent wall. I found wallpaper online that is very similar to my duvet I have now. I have matching pillow shams but I thought all the print might be too much for this focal point. I want to use the matching duvet cover more as a throw and have a white duvet and shams as the main bedding.

This is my dressing table/vanity. I want to find a fancy mirror at a thrift store or garage sale and paint it white. As you can see, the wall is rather boring and bare. Any suggestions on what else to do? Perhaps continue the damask panelling?

Seating Area for guests/late night studying.

And here is the bar area (Also, my biggest problem). I want to design and built the bar myself. Most likely out of MDF or whatever Dad has around. I cannot seem to pick what feels right for the room. Which do you prefer?

Option One.

Option Two.

Option Three.

And the 'sample' board:

The design is obviously not final so any suggestions or opinions would be lovely  Wink. Perhaps any suggested crafting projects...such as, what to do with extra wallpaper  Tongue Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone for the feedback!  Smiley I'm thinking this has started a theme for my apartment. Inspired by the dollhouse and this picture:

I was going to make my place more guy friendly but I don't have to anymore so yay for girly apartments!

9  Dollhouse into Shoe Rack? in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 80sgirl on: December 09, 2007 11:54:03 AM
To make a long story short: guys are terrible, my doll house was kind of ruined, and I really need a shoe rack for my front closet. Does it look silly to you? Or could it work?

I'm trying to decide if people will enter my apartment and think I'm strange.

10  Re: Ringbearers' pillows (pics plus opinions wanted) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by 80sgirl on: December 01, 2007 08:34:35 PM
i might be a little late in posting but just in case...

have you thought about putting the two ideas together? i.e. having it going straight across and then having the tied one on top:

*i apologize for my drawing skills, or lack thereof*

also, i like the idea of having the button or brooch to add some detail. but again, i agree the one in the picture is a little too big. wonderful idea though!
