1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Serenity Necklace on: April 29, 2009 08:53:00 PM
My asian themed necklace with a pendant i made of my favorite stone aventurine wrapped in wire.

A tidbit about aventurine:
According to believers in the power of stones and crystals, Aventurines strongest mental healing characteristic is its ability to ground an individual emotionally, thus allowing for thought that is free of fear, troubled emotions, indecisiveness, and anxiety. This clarity of mind and self confidence that result from wearing this powerful stone energize, inspire, motivate and enhance ones ability to relate to others on an emotional level. It is a stone for leaders, for protectors and counselors; wear it when making critical decisions, when anxious or when feeling overwhelmed by lifes problems and it will amplify your ability to focus and find creative solutions.

Detail of pendant

I don't like the lighting so much in this picture, but I prefer this side of the pendant's wiring.

Sorry the images are kind of fuzzy. i was using a really crappy camera. Maybe one day i will have one that isn't my cell phone... *sigh*

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ductape Purse with Pretty Flower Theme on: January 06, 2007 01:00:30 PM

ha, sorry i couldn't decide which picture to use so i just did both.
also the lighting kind of sucks, it's actually lighter than depicted.

it has a cardboard base and then is covered in ductape then put together (also with ductape), and wrapped with, well, wrapping paper. if you can't tell, in the bottom left corner, those are pressed hydrangea flower petals.

by the way, if you're curious, i wanted to fit the quote "to see the world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wildflower, to hold infite in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour" -william blake
unfortunately i couldn't fit it but i figured you might appreciate it anyway.

hope you enjoyed!  Smiley
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / mother's favorite christmas present on: December 30, 2006 12:57:21 PM
we all know that no matter how expensive of a present you get for your mother you always get greater props for homemade sentimental gifts. i made her a picture frame with a cute picture of her and me when i was itty bitty. here it is!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My Collage Ductape Starbucks Purse!!! on: December 20, 2006 09:55:59 AM
I have come to flaunt my indulgence. My favorite addiction: Coffee!!!

So here's a bag I crafted on a car trip to missippi out of starbucks scraps, cardboard, and ductape.

I know the lighting's kind of weird. i don't know why. but the back is more true to its color.

This is under the flap. it has a quote from one of my favorite writers TS Eliot. It's from Love Song for J Alfred Prufrock if you're interested.  "I have measure out my life with coffee spoons". mmm

Caffeine. The most glorious chemical compound ever.

And, for the record,

 Smiley
