1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / skirt love (simplicity 2258) on: March 14, 2011 09:45:15 AM
I made the Simplicity 2258 (http://www.simplicity.com/p-5829-misses-easy-to-sew-skirts-shorts.aspx) skirt last night! It was easy and I think it came out well. I have made skirts before but I had never sewn with rayon fabric before so I didn't know what to expect. (I got it on clearance at Joann's, $4.99 a yard I think?) It was actually not bad at all. My only complaint is that it's not as swingy as I would want. Do you know what I mean by "swingy" or do I sound crazy?

I LOVE that it has pockets! I haven't figured out how to tie the tie where it will lay kind of flat. Any suggestions?

I really want to make more skirts now but like I said, I like skirts that move more. I need to look for more skirt patterns like that.

Here are some pictures I took of it:

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Oscar Statuette Replica with DIY on: February 25, 2011 07:17:31 PM
Who else is super excited about the Oscars? There are so many great movies this year! I've seen them all except for 127 Hours.

We are hosting an Oscar, ahem, Academy Awards, party on Sunday night at our house. A bunch of friends are coming over to make pizzas and watch the show. It's going to be so fun! We are having an Oscar prediction contest and the winner gets an excellent prize! A replica Oscar! I made him tonight out of stuff I had laying around the house. Seriously! I didn't want to buy a replica, that's silly when I could make one myself! Make your own Oscar!

The DIY directions have already been all typed up over on my blog. It took me forever to post it over there so I am just posting a link. Perhaps if I get some time soon I can modify this post with the directions.

here is the direct link: http://thewaitwillbeworthit.blogspot.com/2011/02/diy-oscar-statuette.html
Ooh, and please post pictures if you make one! I would LOVE to see it!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / eff gluten grocery totes (R rated language) LOTS of pictures on: September 24, 2007 06:51:33 PM
It has been a LONG LONG time since I have posted on Craftster.

I came up with this idea bc I saw a shirt that said "fuck cancer." I have celiac and thought it would be cute to make some grocery totes that say "fuck gluten" or "eff gluten"

what do you think?

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / this is the 574th one you have seen on: May 11, 2007 02:35:36 PM
It's a big long sleeve shirt into a small puffy sleeve shirt! So amazing! I've never seen one like it!! Wink Wink

So, I was going through some of my mom's clothes that were on their way to the battered women's shelter and found this long sleeve frumpy purple top (probably 10 years old) and saw potential in it.
So, I took it in about 3-4in. on both sides and made the sleeves into puffy delicious. I really really like it! I am proud of it and wore it to the grocery store. I am so glad that finally figured out how to make puffy sleeves so I think I will try this again. It's so easy!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My First go at reversible totes on: April 29, 2007 07:58:09 PM
My favorite swap partner ever made me the cutest reversible tote bag so I thought I would figure out how to make one. I sat down and looked it over and finally figured out how and then I made up a pattern. I then made 2...

Ta-da!

I know this seems elementary but I am new to sewing. Don't laugh.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Very Pretty Girly Clothes < I added 2 new dresses! on: April 24, 2007 05:19:59 PM
My first real clothing post!!!!!!

I have been in love with Erin Fetherston's designs for a long time. I don't think spending $350 on a top so I made this for myself. I got a little inspiration from Philip Lim's 3.1 collection also. I think later I will make it into a dress somehow. I am so proud of it! It is my favorite clothing item I have made so far. And it is super comfortable.

I made a dress too with a pink knit cotton material and a white floral cotton. I love it so much! I love girly clothes!!

I have just started making clothes so I'll get better. I need to get better at making my own patterns too which is what these are.

love, peach

I am adding these 2 dresses that I made today. The pink one is from my own simple pattern and the blue one is a modified 1967 McCall's pattern.
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Once Upon a Potty cards on: March 27, 2007 06:38:33 PM
I thought these cards that I made were cute and felt like sharing. They are kind of crude but I think that's what makes them cute.

the yellow one is my favorite

They are blank on the inside. I made them form illustrations from "Once Upon a Potty."

Sorry the images are so big, I haven't figured out how to do that yet with the code on here.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / don't laugh but... on: March 24, 2007 05:59:51 PM
I just started making clothes and I want to use vintage patterns. I know that sizes have changed a lot since the 60s (I am using a 60s shift pattern). How do I figure out how to compensate for the size differences. I have measured everything but it's all so confusing to me. Please HELP!!
