^Rockon, I've gotten your zine! Sorry for being absent from the discussion lately. I've received from four partners in total- Vog, Rockon, eukarya and millik. Thanks so much! I really enjoyed reading all of them.
First up is Vog's zine, 'how the heart heals (and other observations)'.
Firstly, I like the name alot as it sets the tone for the zine, which I find deeply personal. The content is a combination of drawings, photographic images and beautiful descriptive writing. Very intimate.
Rockon's zine, 'From the inside out- Notes to the self':
This zine had a very interesting concept, consisting of an exchange of emails by the author with her 'inner critic'. I posted the two pages that I found most thought-provoking. I really connected with what she said about struggling with creative expression.
eukarya's zine, 'The Thorn Tree':
I LOVE her fine pen drawings, especially those she did of fairies for the little fantasy story. Needless to say I enjoyed the pages titled 'Whimsy' which show some of her doodles and sketches. I think whimsical's the right word to describe her style. Thanks also for the info on ATCs- I consider myself an artist but have yet to make one (what?!). It's cute how the title's a pun on her name (right?).
Finally, millik's zine about cross-stitch:
millik's explanations, complete with hand-drawn diagrams, are clear and useful. thanks especially for the tutorial on making cross-stitch patterns with GIMP (so convenient because I have the software). She also included some of her own patterns which are really cute.
That's it for now. Fabulous zines everyone! I like how they're different and special in their own way. Thanks once again and looking forward to more zines!
