1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mug Rug Swap? on: October 23, 2011 04:47:59 PM
Hello everyone,

I've been contemplating mug rugs lately and was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a mug rug swap.

I've never been in charge of a swap.  I have participated in one, though.  I'm not entirely sure what I'd have to do if I was heading one up, but if someone who has done one before would co-head it with me, I'd be down with that.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Needle Roll Awesomeness on: August 03, 2010 04:13:44 PM
I'm not sure that this is the correct place to post this.
I've had the fabric for this project for a really long time and finally made it.
I finished a new needle roll last night and wanted to share.

Here is the outside

Here is the inside.  there are three different layers of needle slots.

Here's the inside with the flap down

Here it is with needles in it.

Rolled up.  The ribbon is long enough to wrap around twice so it's extra secure.

Pic of the top so you can see how the flap keeps all the needles from falling out.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Zipper Pouches on: July 25, 2010 09:46:17 PM
I've been a crazy seamstress the past few weeks.  I've been unemployed for over a year.  I've been doing tons of crafting to help fill up my time so I don't mope and do nothing all day.  I've decided to try to sell some of the things that I make.  I'm trying to get an etsy shop going, but I'm still figuring out all the ins and outs.  I'm going to see how things go at an upcoming local indie craft fair.  So I decided on zipper pouches.  I think they've turned out okay.

Some close ups of a few individual ones:

I found a cool way to make my own product labels http://patchworkpottery.blogspot.com/2008/09/fabric-labels-tutorial.html.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Birthday Bracelet on: June 06, 2010 06:39:19 PM
I made this for myself for my birthday.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out so I'd thought I'd share.

I haven't posted for a long time so I hope the picture works out.

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Homemade Taggie--Take 2! on: January 03, 2008 01:15:06 PM
I made another taggie!  This time it's for one of my students who is having a girl (she's due on the 8th).  I just hope this one is girly enough.  I found this embellished fleece at Joanns and figured it'd be good for a girl.  I was going to use the butterfly with a green background, but discovered after I washed the fabric that part was coming unstitched.  I didn't have the right thread to fix it so just decided to use the butter fly with the blue background.  Check it out!

And with the back showing.

The perfectionist in me really wants to straighten out a couple of the tags that are crooked.  Not exactly sure how that happened when I sewed it.  But I'm making myself leave it.  I need to start writing some lesson plans since my winter break is almost over !!  Sad  I could use some more time!

My first post on the taggies can be found at

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Homemade Taggie on: December 30, 2007 03:52:24 PM
Not sure this is the right place to put it, but here it is.

About two months ago I got a job teaching science at an alternative high school.  In addition to teaching science, the school is having me teach the young parents class where I have pregnant and parenting teens.  Quite a shock for someone who isn't a parent!!  I have two students who are having their babies really soon, in fact one of them probably already gave birth, and I wanted to get them of baby gift.  In a world with many extra hours in the day I would have liked to make them all baby quilts, but seeing as how that's not humanly possible I decided to make them something smaller, easier, and cheaper.  I decided to make them homemade taggies.  I copied the idea from the actual product, but I like the fact that I got to make it.  It's more special that way.  :-)

Let me know what you think.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Expert help needed!! on: December 24, 2007 05:28:38 PM
Hello Everyone,

I just started knitting this sock and in the instructions it says "At end of round 14, move beg of round 1 st to the left."  I'm not sure how to do this.  I can't do anything more on this sock until I figure out how to do this.  Any help??

Here's a link to the pattern I'm doing http://www.unicornbooks.com/pattern_MWspiraleyeletsocks.asp
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Valentine's Day Inspired Quilt......and a break from grad school on: March 27, 2007 12:42:48 PM
I started this little quilt around Valentine's Day.  I'm not a huge fan of the holiday, but I liked the look of this quilt.  I found it athttp://www.rainydays.com.au/jfb.htm

Here's my rendition.  I don't have a cool hanger yet to display it on.  My mom helped me make button holes on the tabs so I can put it on a neat hanger if I eventually find one.  I'm still new at this adding photos thing.  I hope this works.

Here's a close up on some of the embroidery
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilt Challange #1: Stained Glass Flower on: January 17, 2007 07:55:16 PM
Ok, this is my first post, and my first challenge project.  I'm not sure that I've got everything figured out.  And I guess I can't post a pic yet, so I'll just post links.

Hopefully this is the finished project.

And hopefully this is the close up picture of the flower.

I had fun doing this.  It was stress relief from grad school!!!
