I love Qee figurines. So I made some t-shirts bearing their image. This is one...

2  Moon's Moon 3-layer stenciled T-shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by smegs on: June 16, 2006 02:07:41 PM
Backstory: My best friend and I started a fake band called The Moon's Moon, based on a dream he had where he was killed in a "freak jat-pack accident" and then for his funeral, his ashes were fired into space and began orbiting the moon (like a moon). The joke went so far that a theme song was written for the band (and now a t-shirt!)

My friend is living in London this summer, and I miss him dearly, so I made him a t-shirt that would remind him of our awesome band.

The image is a 3-layer stencil, and the words are from the song he wrote.

"Throw my ashes into space, towards the moon!"

3  Stuffed String Cheese Man! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by smegs on: June 16, 2006 02:02:00 PM
If you've seen my dino post, this is par for the course. My best friend and I love string cheese -- he brings me a stick every time we hang out. But he's in London for three months, and I'm sure he's missing his daily string cheese fix.

So...I made him a stuffed String Cheese Man! Hand-stitched, made of felt.

Here is String Cheese Man cuddling with a stick of real string cheese. Dig in!

They're all made out of various colors of marbled wool felt. The hearts are all crazy stitched, as that is the logo of my Craft Co. (though a name has yet to be thought of to go with it...) Eyes are hand-stitched, and again, each comes with a little card depicting the character and saying whatever it is that a card could possibly say. Smiley

Here's a detail of the heart....I'll probably have these up on Etsy by Monday at the latest.

**Update**

So, in a fit of creativity, I've resewn some dinos. Not like the guy above, but others -- T-rexes, Pterodactyls, etc. Even a whale or two. Some bats, etc. Yes, bats.

I think instead of keeping my new stuffed pals where the cats will most likely eat them, I'll end up putting them on Etsy or giving them to friends. Sharing the Dino Luv and such.

Also - I tried the citrus...it works decently, but I have my cat here, and now he avoids my room. So I've got to let it air out before he'll cuddle me to sleep again

PS. This is my cat, Miles. He does not eat dinos.

This is more venting than anything else -- but this is the only board it seemed to fit under.

So I make Dinos...(feel free to see my post about "Cuddly Dinos") and the original one I made, a blue stuffed brontosaurus, was on a high shelf in my room and my mom's cats knocked it down and ate it. They tore the stuffing out and left teeth marks from it's neck to gooey stump that was it's tail. Mind you this was the cornerstone of a genius idea that brought me TONS of joy. I know I can make a new one, but....AHH.

I'm just so angry that they destroyed something I put time, effort, and love into. I just want to scream!

PS. Anyone know of a good way to keep cats away from things? Mom's beasts also tore my favorite sweater to shreds.

*cries a entire ocean*

RIP Bronto Buddy...

7  Cuddly Dinos in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by smegs on: May 24, 2006 09:09:09 PM
So I've been making stuffed Dinos for my friends for ages, and thought I'd share them with the public. They each come with a card bearing the cartoon version of them, and with a custom phrase (whatever my friends want.)

The tallest is 40", middle is 24", and the smallest is 12". Perfect for cuddling.
