1  Felt Face for my costume bag. in Completed Projects by yarnthespian on: July 26, 2009 02:43:02 PM
I really hope this is in the right place. Some backstory:
I perform every other weekend with Orgasmic Rush of Lust, Richmond's only active Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast. I play Columbia. Last night during a fight with tiny hand stitches on a purse that should have been a messenger bag (my sewing machine froze D:) I decided to take a small craft break and discovered much to my pleasure a tote bag full of felt I'd forgotten I had.

One hour later, I had this for my costume bag. Her hair is pinker in real life.

Her lips aren't exactly how I wanted them and the hairs a little crooked, but I was super pleased with her eye makeup and eyebrows! She's about six inches by six inches, and will soon live on my duffel. I very well may end up with one for each character!

2  Re: Show Off Your Hair! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by yarnthespian on: March 27, 2009 09:41:17 PM
I impulsively decided to cut my own hair today, even though I'd never done it before. I forgot to take a before pic, it was REALLY impulsive, but I found one that works.

All I did was shorten the very back, and trim and shape my bangs a little. Here's the before: (it actually was longer than this, the bangs were over my eyes and the back was down past my collar, but you can see the shape.)

3  What MacGyver give's a lady. in CHALLENGE 29 ENTRIES by yarnthespian on: July 05, 2008 08:59:34 PM
I started out painting the back of a black suit coat with the james bond sillouhette and logo, but my dad decided to be helpful and wash it, and since it wasn't fabric paint, it didn't survive. :-( so in the last hour i've made this, which seems kind of fitting that it was last minute since MacGyver always used these at the last minute. ^.^ I give you the Rubber Band and Paper Clip necklace and bracelet! The rubber band sections are a type of closed ring chainmaille weave, called foxtail. You can find instructions several places, but i used this one
http://derakon.chainmailstore.com/inst.html
instead however, of neoprene rings or metal, i used those small black rubber bands normally used for braids and such. its just segments of 15 of those bands in the weave, then a paper clip, then the weave, then the paper clip. super simple and luckily, super fast. these pictures show just the necklace, the bracelet, and two very fuzzy attempts to show the weave and stretch of the jewelry.

Bracelet:

Stretchy stretchy (so fuzzy):

This is my shirt for Free Hug Day. I made it about an hour ago, and it came out really well. Hope you like it! Oh and I meant for the paint to get on the outside of the stencils too, just so ya know. ^.^

5  Recovered Journal (first paper craft, journal & book making post) ^.^ in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by yarnthespian on: June 22, 2007 09:51:41 PM
I made this for Mother's Day this year. My mom is always using notebooks for budgeting and such, so I decided she needed a pretty one just for journaling or doing her creative writing. Here it is!

Please let me know what you think!
