211  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / My first toddler hoodie! on: October 15, 2007 08:20:20 PM
I just finished making this hoodie for my dd. I didn't use a pattern so there were some problems along the way but I am very happy with how it turned out! This is my first time posting a pic so I hope everyone can see this

212  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Turning Your Clothing Designs Into A Reality on: October 12, 2007 08:07:39 AM
Hey, I just made a pattern using newsprint paper that comes in a large tablet. My sister said she bought it at the art supply store. It is flexible yet sturdy. and large sheets like 20 by 30.  It is almost the same as the paper they use for making the patterns you buy.
hope this helps

215  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / need help promoting my website(free if possible) on: April 25, 2007 08:53:17 PM
I recently opened my online store and I know I need to let people know it is there if I am going to sell anything. So my question is what are some ways to get the word out, preferably free or at least cheap
so far I have used
myspace, bust mag, craigslist, indie collective, link exchanges

What else is out there?

Thanks for any info

I would just take your hat and packaging to the post office and ask them to weigh it and tell you how much it would cost to mail it to different places. You should add the price of the envelope for "handling". Or you could include shipping costs into the price of your hats and say  WOW free shipping for all orders!!!
Now its a bargain who could resist?

Your hats are cool!!  Some questions that came to mind when looking at them:
What size are they? I hate it when hats don't fit my giant head.  The description says in back the drawstring is adjustable allowing for many styles. I am intrigued and would like to see more styles of wearing.
I also feel that some of the pictures show off the mannequins face more than your lovely hats.
I would pay more than $10 for a cool handmade hat without thinking it was expensive, however I think $5 shipping seems a lot. Is the hat heavy?
OK last thing, I agree that having your hats come from a smoke free environment is a plus. Saying that smoking is disgusting, although true may alienate a lot of smoking hat wearers.

love the hats,
please feel free to get me back by giving me your honest opinion on my site www.hottrodz.com

219  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: product opinions from felters please on: March 31, 2007 08:24:30 PM
I'm not really a felter. but I've thought of becoming one.  I have done felted knitting projects. and accidentally felted several nice sweaters.  I have often wanted to experiment with felting roving.  So maybe you could market a beginners felting packet with instructions and lots of cool inspiring colors. then you would make your product available to a larger audience.
