Thanks for trying but no. Mine was very pink with mostly butterflies. It's all right now though. I have calmed down and decided to keep firstborn and cut out with a different fabric. If I can ever get my camera to do what I want it to, I made a different, smaller item out of the fabric and will post the pic in the Needlebox with a Twist thread.
I am in Qld. I haven't participated in any Craftster swaps so I don't think I am eligible to run one at all.
I have made a braided dog leash and was considering making handles the same way. I folded the raw edges so that they met in the middle then folded the material in half. It was about half an inch wide at that point. As I braided, it folded again and I couldn't stop it, so I undid what I had done and re-did it with the extra fold. It was approx. quarter of an inch all the way around at that point. Without the extra fold it was flatter. I hope that makes sense. THe leash is over a year old now and I have washed it in the machine twice and it still looks good, not loose or unwound at all.
If you had any pink butterfly fabric called Free as a Butterfly by Avlyn, I could send you my first born child in exchange. Yes, I just ran short after cutting out (most of) the fabric.
Seriously, what kind of fabric are you offering in exchange? I have a bunch of charm squares which I was about to list on eBay. I am doing a 2.5inch charm square quilt and I am on the hunt for yellows mostly and a few purples. These are my duplicate, excess and brights/kiddy prints.
I made my niece one of these for Christmas. Sadly, I forgot to take a photo before I gave it too her. Since my first try of the lid was too large however, I have made the outer box to a second one. My is made with sewing though. Mat board covered with quilt wadding scraps, then fabric. I borrowed a book from the library on how to sew them by hand but couldn't motivate myself to do it until I read Diyosas upholstered box tutorial and figured out how to mostly machine sew them.
I am starting to get into this bag making thingy but have been wondering about what kind of zips to get. I see packets of very cheap ones at the grocery store and bulk lots even cheaper on eBay. Sometimes it is worth paying more for quality, other times you just pay more. Does anyone have any opinions on where to get zips and whether it is worth paying more or how to tell a quality zip from a bad one.
I have made it and have been using it for a week or so. It works great and I have had requests to make more. Haven't had a chance to take a pic yet but mine is leopardskin like the one in the link. I just used clips from the local store. Stuffed two up since I had never used them before but got it right the second time.
