201  Re: Katamari/Amish Puzzle Ball Craftalong! in Craftalongs by Sansa on: May 05, 2007 02:01:26 PM
I bought some lightning fabric like that at Spotlight in Australia a few years ago.

Incidentally, I have made some similar balls to this but with two different pieces. That way, you don't get the hole in the middle that some people have mentioned. There is a wedge shaped piece and one shaped like a quarter circlewith a rounded top. I could search out the pattern if anyone is interested.

204  Black handbag for travelling in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Sansa on: March 27, 2007 07:32:14 PM
This is made from one of the free patterns posted by Diabolica in the Discussion area. The pattern does make a reversible bag if you don't mind the hand sewing on the outside. Dh and I are off to China soo though, so although I would have preferred a magnetic snap or button (for reversability) I did the extensive velcro strip. I am definitely going to do more from this pattern though.

I am making a travel belt in the same black and white fabric as well. Pics may follow, time depending.

205  Re: Swap a yard of fabric swap - March in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Sansa on: March 25, 2007 01:51:16 PM
Yes, most of mine are quilting cottons, I forgot to type that this time around. I quilt and buy for that. The only one that isn't is the pink Barbie, it is slightly thicker, like for curtains I'd say.

Proof.

208  Stable Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Sansa on: March 14, 2007 01:40:17 AM
I have seen pictures of this bag and tried to duplicate it from that. It is not that big as this is a prototype. I am taking it on holiday with me next month to try it out. The base fabric is a fat eighth. I like the idea that you can just open the bag and have everything within easy reach, no re-organising necessary. In theory anyway.

Holds shape when open.

Showing Handles

Open.

Zip pocket at one end, velcro at the other. Tool holder in the centre.

It is supposed to look like a normal shoulder bag when shut.

209  Japanese Evening Bag with Ruffled Handle in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Sansa on: March 12, 2007 12:49:28 AM
I saw a picture of this bag and fell in love with it. I have reconstructed it using a similar fabric I owned and my trusty stitch unpick. I thought I unpicked a lot when following a pattern! The only major change was the handle. The original was beaded. I don't own beads and the one bag I do have with a beaded handle slips off my shoulder all the time.

No pockets, the outside was hard enough. A magnetic snap for the inside.

210  Re: Tutorial: funky travel bag. . .(pictures) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Sansa on: March 06, 2007 05:31:57 PM
I found this fabric on clearance at the local curtain shop. Loved the green, hated the yellow.

Da, Da.

I really like the shape, I might make it a bit bigger next time. It is a bit floppier than everyone elses but I think I have discovered the reason for it. Apparently what local store is calling medium weight interfacing, isn't. bought some much better stuff over the net for another project which specificed brand so I might unpick a bit and stiffen it up.
