261  Ring of Fire in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by amigurl55 on: March 04, 2009 08:35:24 AM
My friend and I love this song so I decided to stitch it up.  My wonderful husband helped me design the flames.

262  Bonsai Tote in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 28, 2009 01:37:28 PM
I feel like this took forever to finish, but in reality it was probably only a few hours.

This is my first time using waste canvas.  What do you think?

263  Pink Cupcake Pillow in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 20, 2009 09:00:53 AM
I wanted to make something cute.  I wanted to use some embroidery for something other than sticking it in a frame and calling it good.  Thus, the cupcake pillow was born.

It's about 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".  The body is polar fleece and the cupcake is embroidered on printed cotton.

264  Some Recent Needlework in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 13, 2009 03:28:20 PM
A pretty x stitch butterfly

And an image I get when I read part of a poem called "on the threshold" by Guido Gozzano
"A lady with no shape or form.  A lady in nothingness dressed.  Wherever her cold fingers rest, she touches things but to transform."

It's hard to tell, but the floss is gray.  I think I used too big of a needle, but I still think it looks neat.

265  A Geeky Craft Tribute to Mr. Cash in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 06, 2009 07:07:19 PM
My friend and I love "The Ring of Fire."  We "sing" it back and forth through text messages.  We can't sing it in person like we used to 'cause she lives in a different state.

Anyway, I think it turned out pretty cool.  I got the text pattern here: http://www.crosstitch.com/fontform.html and my husband helped me design the flames.

Sorry for the not-so-great pic.  I just finished making it there's a lack of decent lighting.

I'm not sure if I like the frame it's in, but I have others I can switch it to.

266  Super Mario Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 29, 2009 03:39:02 PM

This is for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I was cross stitching one day, and he said how cross stitch would be perfect for 8-bit designs.  So, to show that he has a point and further his geeky collection of stuff I make for him, I cross stitched up some Super Mario goodness.

Apparently there's some law that says all 4x4 picture frames have to be as girly as possible.  So I matted it, and it will reside in a plain black 5x7 frame.

I'm on a roll with my embroidery here!

I made this for my husband.  The flag of the straw hat pirates.

268  Valentine's Redwork in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 19, 2009 03:12:44 PM
I love birds, and I've recently started to do needlework again.  What better way to but the two together than with some redwork valentines?

Cute little birds

Single bird

Owl

They will be in little frames eventually.  All I had were ugly gold ones and they're in the process of being painted red.

269  Cross Stitched Potpourri Sachet in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 17, 2009 10:23:15 PM
My grandma is going through some cancer treatment right now.  I live kind of far away, so it's hard to go visit.  She likes pretty things and smelly things, so I made her a potpourri sachet that I'm going to mail to her.  I hope it just makes her day.

I used yummy mulberry smelling potpourri.

A close up of the pattern

I got the stitch design from an awesome book called "Medieval Cross Stitch Samplers" by Angela Wainwright.  I'm working on a bigger piece from the same book, and can't wait to share it here.

Thank you!

The eyes were creeping out my husband, so I changed them up a little.
