261  Pink Ninja in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: March 19, 2009 02:54:05 PM
inspired by all the beautiful stuffies and dolls here, I wanted to make my own.  Every previous attempt I have made has failed, so I'm pretty dang happy that this is posting quality.  I didn't use a pattern, just kind of made it up as I went.  I just used what I had on hand.  The body is polar fleece and the face and flower are felt.

Comments and criticism welcome!

262  Poppa Rocks aka Don Patch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: March 14, 2009 09:59:03 AM
I'm going to be really surprised if anyone's heard of this manga/anime.  Bobobo Bobobobo.  That's right.  Anyway, my husband and I think the manga and anime are hilarious.  He was reading it the other day and thought this particular panel was hilarious, so I stitched it up.

In case you can't read the text: Poppa Rocks is saying "Beauty, tell this fool who the main character is."  And Beauty is saying, "Um, Bobobo."

Just some more geeky weirdness from me, the Queen of geeky weirdness.

263  Amigurumi Owl in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: March 05, 2009 07:49:49 AM
Owls seem to be pretty popular lately.  I wanted to crochet one, but I couldn't find a pattern I liked.  Eventually I ended up modifying the penguin pattern from the Lion brand website.

You can kind of see the little wing here

What do you think?

264  Ring of Fire in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by amigurl55 on: March 04, 2009 08:35:24 AM
My friend and I love this song so I decided to stitch it up.  My wonderful husband helped me design the flames.

265  Bonsai Tote in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 28, 2009 01:37:28 PM
I feel like this took forever to finish, but in reality it was probably only a few hours.

This is my first time using waste canvas.  What do you think?

266  Pink Cupcake Pillow in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 20, 2009 09:00:53 AM
I wanted to make something cute.  I wanted to use some embroidery for something other than sticking it in a frame and calling it good.  Thus, the cupcake pillow was born.

It's about 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".  The body is polar fleece and the cupcake is embroidered on printed cotton.

267  Some Recent Needlework in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 13, 2009 03:28:20 PM
A pretty x stitch butterfly

And an image I get when I read part of a poem called "on the threshold" by Guido Gozzano
"A lady with no shape or form.  A lady in nothingness dressed.  Wherever her cold fingers rest, she touches things but to transform."

It's hard to tell, but the floss is gray.  I think I used too big of a needle, but I still think it looks neat.

268  A Geeky Craft Tribute to Mr. Cash in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 06, 2009 07:07:19 PM
My friend and I love "The Ring of Fire."  We "sing" it back and forth through text messages.  We can't sing it in person like we used to 'cause she lives in a different state.

Anyway, I think it turned out pretty cool.  I got the text pattern here: http://www.crosstitch.com/fontform.html and my husband helped me design the flames.

Sorry for the not-so-great pic.  I just finished making it there's a lack of decent lighting.

I'm not sure if I like the frame it's in, but I have others I can switch it to.

269  Super Mario Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 29, 2009 03:39:02 PM

This is for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I was cross stitching one day, and he said how cross stitch would be perfect for 8-bit designs.  So, to show that he has a point and further his geeky collection of stuff I make for him, I cross stitched up some Super Mario goodness.

Apparently there's some law that says all 4x4 picture frames have to be as girly as possible.  So I matted it, and it will reside in a plain black 5x7 frame.

270  One Piece Pirate in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 20, 2009 03:22:09 PM
I'm on a roll with my embroidery here!

I made this for my husband.  The flag of the straw hat pirates.
