261  Cross Stitched Potpourri Sachet in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 17, 2009 10:23:15 PM
My grandma is going through some cancer treatment right now.  I live kind of far away, so it's hard to go visit.  She likes pretty things and smelly things, so I made her a potpourri sachet that I'm going to mail to her.  I hope it just makes her day.

I used yummy mulberry smelling potpourri.

I got the stitch design from an awesome book called "Medieval Cross Stitch Samplers" by Angela Wainwright.  I'm working on a bigger piece from the same book, and can't wait to share it here.

Thank you!

The eyes were creeping out my husband, so I changed them up a little.

263  Panda in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 14, 2009 05:15:50 PM
I saw the book "Cute Dolls" at the store, and had to get it.  There are so many cute little animals in it!

This was my first time working with a jersey fabric and my first time sewing a stuffed animal (although I've crocheted plenty).

Meet Panda

His cute little butt

So, how'd I do?

264  Gifty Soap Set in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: December 19, 2008 09:32:00 PM
I don't have a lot of money for gifts this year, but I have a lot of crafty stuff around the house.  When thinking of what in the world I could make my cousin, I came up with this.

The soap is just M&P glycerin.  I used some vitamin e oil and scented it with country apple.  I crocheted a wash cloth for her out of cotton yarn.  I think it's cute and wanted to show it off.

265  Snow Princess Wrist Warmers in Crochet: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: December 16, 2008 09:07:44 PM
I had some Yarn Bee Cameo yarn laying around and thought it was cool.  I decided to make some wrist warmers.  I used my own pattern, and can post a tut if you like.

267  I'm addicted to making cell phone carriers! (pic heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by amigurl55 on: November 29, 2008 09:05:33 PM
These are really simple to make, and they come out so cute!  I made one to match my SIL's purse for Christmas, a butterfly one for my MIL, and an Asian-inspired one just for fun.

SIL's to match purse (the color didn't come out so great in the first one)

Neat-o button to match

Butterflies.  I couldn't get a good pic of the lining- it's a cream colored background with black butterflies.

Sorry for so many pictures.  I'm just so excited about these because I'm kind of new to sewing.

268  I sewed a purse! (and it didn't fall apart!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by amigurl55 on: November 25, 2008 07:37:26 PM
I used to dabble in paper-piecing (aka foundation piecing) and applique wall quilts a few years back, but I didn't get the hang of making anything useful.  The vest I made in sewing class fell apart in the wash, and various other attempts at other things failed.  Skip ahead a few years to when my mom made me clear my stuff out of her house and I found my sewing machine.  I thought I'd want to try making a purse.  The first one I tried didn't work because it had those round bamboo handles and I couldn't sew them on without getting lumps and bumps.  The second one turned out really nicely, though.

Nifty magnetic snap and lining:

What do you think?

270  Everybody to the Limit! Crocheted Strong Bad in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: November 07, 2008 03:20:28 PM
I've been wanting to crochet a Strong Bad for forever.  He turned out a little fat, but he just sits around and checks email all day, right?
I'm having to post links because I didn't like how the images came up.
