11  Undersea Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: February 01, 2016 10:57:17 AM
This has been laying around my house unfinished forever, so I decided I should probably finish it.  I got the pattern from Etsy. Finished size is about 7" wide and 13" high.

The jellyfish is my favorite.

12  I Was a Cross Stitch Once. It Was Awful. Grumpy Cat Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 31, 2016 07:02:11 PM
I love grumpy cat.  Cats are probably my favorite animal and I'm a grumpy person myself so I can identify with her pretty well.  I got the pattern from Etsy.  She fits in an 8" hoop.

She was fun to make and stitched up pretty quickly.

13  American McGee's Cheshire Cat in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: January 31, 2016 06:58:45 PM
This is another work by my cross stitching fiance.  It took him 9 months and has 100 colors.  Stitched area is about 7" wide by 6" high.  It looks great!

He likes to see what people think, so feel free to post your comments!

14  Re: Fallout Themed Wedding in Weddings and Bridal Showers by amigurl55 on: January 19, 2016 02:03:13 PM
OK, Fancy Cakes taste awful so we're going with plan B for the favors lol.

For decorations, I found templates for Fallout food on the internet.  I printed them out and folded/glued them up.  I have Insta-mash, Yum Yum Deviled Eggs, Dandy Boy Apples, Fancy Lad Snack Cakes, Greasy Prospector Pork n' Beans, and Blamco Mac and Cheese (not pictured).  I'm going to put these decorations out at the buffet table.

For favors I found these cute boxes.  I thought they'd tie into the Fallout theme because when the game first starts up it does the countdown.  We're going to fill them with retro candy like Atomic Fireballs, Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie Rolls, jaw breakers, and stuff like that.  They're sort of DIY because I have to print them out and assemble them.

OK, I'm going to share what I've been doing so far in case someone in the future wants to do a Fallout themed party or wedding.  We've set the date and are getting married on May 21, 2016.

The bouquets:
I found these fun burlap flowers at Hobby Lobby.  I bought them right away because Hobby Lobby likes to change up their inventory a lot.  I have one bride's maid and her bouquet will be the smaller flowers in white with the little orange flowers.  This picture isn't the finished product, just showing them.

The favors/decorations:
So far the only decoration I have decided on are Nuka Cola bottle caps sprinkled on the tables at the reception instead of confetti.  The favors are going to be Little Debby "Fancy Cakes" in Fancy Lad snack cake packs.  I found the template on deviant art: http://emptysamurai.deviantart.com/art/Fancy-Lad-Snack-Cakes-319338593

I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be fun do with with Nuka Cola bottles instead of Coke bottles.  There are a lot of templates for Nuka Cola labels on the internet so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The cake:
It's a small wedding.  I'm thinking maybe 30 people tops.  Probably not even that many.  So I wanted to do a 10" round layer cake and put these decorations on them.

The food:
Not sure what we're doing for food yet.  I'm doing some research on classic 1950's party food.  I'm pretty sure there are at least going to be some deviled eggs (Yum Yum Deviled Eggs!) and ambrosia salad.

I'll keep posting updates and pictures as I go along.

16  Rustic Truck Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: December 14, 2015 07:14:04 AM
My mom found this free pattern online and texted me at 6am to tell me she wanted it for Christmas since she doesn't cross stitch. Why she had to tell me this at 6am is still unclear. So being the good daughter I am, I downloaded the pattern and stitched it up. I didn't want to make a hoopla so I went looking for a frame and found the perfect one!

I think she'll like it. Only problem is that my bf's sister saw it and now she wants one. But I can't find the frame again!

Now that's got to take some patience!

I'm not working on anything right now, but my boyfriend is.  Here's his WIP of the Cheshire cat from American McGee's Alice.

18  Persona 4 Tarot Card Designs in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by amigurl55 on: October 01, 2015 04:47:17 PM
I'm learning how to draw and I want to make a Tarot deck with all the characters from the video game Persona 4.  I decided to start with Teddie and the fox since I'm not very good at people yet.  I would like some feedback on my drawing and any tips you can offer.  I'm taking a drawing class in November, so I'm hoping I'll be able to start on the people cards by then.  These are not the finished designs, I just wanted to try a design before making the final product.

Again, C&C is welcome!

19  Crocheted Tarot Pouches (Pic Heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: September 28, 2015 06:46:28 PM
I wanted a pretty pouch to put my Tarot cards in, and when my coworker saw it she wanted one for herself.  Then I got a second deck of cards, so I needed to make one for that... and I ended up with 4 of my own bags.  They're really quick to make and I found some fun yarn in my stash.

Here's the one I made for my coworker

Here's a pretty pink one I made.  I have my Nicoletta Ceccoli deck in it.

A Halloween one I have my Rider-Waite deck in right now.

A pretty silver one

And I tried another type of closure with a Jade bead instead of a button.

These are so much fun to make!  I'd like to make more for gifts for my friends.

20  Monster High Day of the Dead Custom in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by amigurl55 on: August 31, 2015 08:18:18 PM
One of my bosses collects day of the dead stuff and the other day she told me she'd like a doll because she adds something new every year.  I had a skeleton head laying around from a Create-a-Monster set, and I had to use a Spectra (the ghost) body because she's the only white body other than Katrine (the cat), which is hard to find.  That is why this doll's hands and feet are clear; because she's a ghost character.

Anyway, I haven't had good luck doing my own face-ups because I have trouble with eyes so I added to the factory face (spider web, swirls, heart, dots, mouth).  I painted a small rib design on her neck/chest as well.  I had a wig laying around from a create-a-monster set and I added a veil and some flowers to it.  I made the dress and shawl as well.

I hope this is what she had in mind.  I had a lot of fun making her and I may do another for myself!
