And by the way, Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest is the best. game. ever.

This is certainly not the majority opinion, but I have warm fuzzy feelings for it. It's one of my favorites. That's why I made this one (which I should have posted earlier lest I forgot):

This is some quality work. Elizabeth Taylor's expression is great. If I had any complain, which I don't, is that Paul Newman just ain't handsome enough in embroidery.

Because that was a handsome, handsome man.

Want to hear something really funny? I didn't have a copy of the original Super Mario Bros. until last night. I had SMB2, SMB3, and Duck Hunt but somehow in the splitting of carts with my brother I had no copy of SMB.

No Castlevania 1 either. Again, I have 2 and 3. Also no Mega Man at all. I feel as though I'm living a lie.

Yeah, that worked out much better than expected. I had assumed it would be too busy so I started working with the other set of photos I took. Late when I decided to upload to Flickr I took another look and thought "This could work really well!"

I found these tiny hoop frames at the store the other day and I had a pretty good idea of just the right sized thing to put inside of them:



I had a brain wave when I was trying to figure how to hang them without, you know, putting a bunch of holes in my wall. I wasn't planning on keeping them. They've been sent to a friend.

I really need to get a needlebook. My current solution is a magnet and an empty pill bottle.

Most of the ones I find on Etsy are a tad too precious for me or not precious enough—I'd totally rock a unicorn book. This, I could handle.

I would so hang this up in my apartment.

From where I sit the unicorn seems to have a mischievous look in her eye. I'd keep an eye on her.

Though I'd have liked to have seen the second girl with half her face gone a la Terminator. That would be spectacular: a come hither look on one side and a cold-blooded machine on the other.

In some ways this might be the geekiest thing I've ever made. It's from a blog post from Merlin Mann titled "Free as in 'Me'." It's a subheading of a blog post about the use and reuse of content. Yeah.

So, this is my first use of DMC Light Effects floss and the rumblings I had heard of its difficulty have not been overstated. Once I got going it wasn't terrible, but any snag and the whole thing turned—pardon my French—to shit.

Worth it though. It came out, at the risk of excessive repetition, quite fancy indeed.
