1  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Re: Are there any Woodshop Classes in the NYC? on: June 28, 2008 06:12:11 AM
Try Etsy.com, Make Worshop or Meetup.com to search for woodworking. I know I saw one being offered at one of these spots.

Hi there!

I highly recommend you search www.meetup.com to browse all the crafty groups in New York. Do a search for rubber stamping, crafts, weaving, knitting or soapmaking and you'll find lots to explore.

I run a soap Meetup and it's really great to meet new people who share the same interests. Many are free to join and you just pay a fee for specific events and some are free as well.

Hope that helps!

It really depends on what your crafy interests are... but I would highly recommend stopping by Etsy Labs in Brooklyn (www.etsy.com) as they have a free craft night regularly.

You can also take classes at Make Workshop. They offer lots of cool crafts, sewing, embroidery, etc.

I would also visit Meetup.com and see all the craft groups that are listed in NYC and maybe join one for the time you're visiting to meet crafty NYers.

Hope that helps!
4  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Re: Where can I teach a Screen Printing class in NYC on: March 01, 2008 12:20:32 PM
Try Make Workshop in Manhattan. They offer a variety of classes.

Or why not consider renting a community room and just rock it out? No one to answer to but yourself.

Good luck!
5  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Join us for cardmaking for a worthy cause! on: March 01, 2008 12:16:35 PM
This event is FREE and open to all new and regular members of the NYC Soapmakers' Circle Meetup. Children are welcome.

Enjoy a free event, chat with like-minded crafters and soap lovers, and meet some new faces too!

You're invited to join me and your fellow soapmakers for a lesson in card making -- a new craft that I've recently fallen in love with -- for a worthy cause called Angel Stampers for Soldiers. This organization sends greeting cards to soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

To attend this event, you MUST be a member of the NYC Soapmaker's Circle Meetup. We are primarily a soapmaking and soap enthusiast club, but enjoy other crafts on occasion as well. Free to join!

6  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Soap Wrapped in Silk = Luxury gift! on: January 02, 2008 02:52:48 PM
Who doesn't love the feel of silk? This month, we'll gather to decorate beautiful habotai silk gift bags. They're perfect for toting a few bars of soap and add a hint of luxury too!

This is a great soap packaging idea for selling at craft fairs or even giving as gifts for Valentine's Day, Weddings, and Mother's Day! Other uses for these bags include, rose petal soaps, bath bombs, or non-soapy purposes: lingerie bag, jewelry, or a stash your favorite chocolates!

I will show you how to personalize a silk gift bag using a stamping technique that's very fun and let's your artistic abilities shine!

To attend this workshop, you must register (it's free) online and join the NYC Soapmaker's Circle Meetup group: http://soapmaking.meetup.com/144/
