21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Chain Chomp Hat (pics and pattern!) on: January 17, 2008 10:15:56 AM
I added this to my Ravelry queue (with a bunch of other projects) - I think it would make a great gift for my gaming-obsessed brother.  I don't know if he would actually wear it, but that's OK!
22  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Bottlecap Magnets - eat your veggies! on: January 14, 2008 03:04:06 PM
Grin  Wow, so many replies - I feel so loved!

Thanks for the input on the eyes - I'm leaving them off.  I feel like my impulse is to make crafts "cute," and sometimes I miss more classy or mature crafts that way - the googly eyes are a case in point.

I used Sculpey clay to make them, and glossed them after they were finished with a gloss interior varnish - found near the craft paint in Michael's, it's like $2 for a 2 ounce bottle (which goes a long way when you're working on this small scale!)

I made this set of magnets for my friend Sonia's birthday - she's a vegetarian, and we have fun exploring veggie restaurants together.  I am really happy with how they turned out - I love working in the small scope of the bottlecap, and with a fairly limited color scheme.

I'm considering adding teeny googly eyes, but I don't know if they would fit on all the veggies, and they're pretty cute as they are!
24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Super-bright kitchen desk! on: January 13, 2008 09:50:50 AM
We got this old, beat-up student desk from my roommate's aunt and uncle when we moved into our new apartment.  We use it in our kitchen for storage and extra counter space, but it was looking a little rough, even with the new knobs we put on it.  Also, it was a little bland in our all-white kitchen - we love color!

We decided to paint it this BRIGHT yellow and green, and we totally love it now!

What do you think?

Puppies!  They have such expressive faces, I'm impressed!
26  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: 2 quilts with cross stitch combined on: November 20, 2007 03:45:36 AM
Eee, these are beautiful!  I love Lizzie Kate designs - I sadly don't really cross-stitch anymore, as knitting has taken over my life, but Lizzie Kate designs have such a cute rustic quality to them.
27  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Leaf Sweater from Phildar Tendances on: November 20, 2007 03:40:05 AM
Seriously, one of the most flattering handknits I've ever seen on someone.  Great work!
28  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: smells of the season soap on: November 20, 2007 03:31:30 AM
Yummmmm!  I am using a clove and cinnamon massage bar from Lush as my lotion/fragrance now, and it makes me smell like Chai tea!  Something about this season makes me crave spicy scents!
29  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: starbucks frappuccino bottle Bath Salts on: November 20, 2007 03:27:51 AM
This is such a cute idea - it would make a great part of a gift for a coffee lover!
30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: New plaid purse on: November 19, 2007 06:13:50 PM
Eeee, I love it!  It's a really great, casual summery fabric.
