Holy cow I'm first! I have really missed Fiber Fridays and all my yarn friends. This week I made Cocoon a blend of space dyed wool in mulberry and a soft yellow with slubs of butter colored silk.
I can't wait to see your latest and greatest. Happy Friday!
I'm not sure whether I can post this as it's also sort of knitting related. I figured that since the prize was hand spun I could post here. In the beginning of January The Knitters Challenge was to break out and try something new. I am the world's worst knitter so I donated a yarn prize instead. Voting ends TODAY! Ack! It's killing me to find out who won. Hooray for challenges, lol.
It's the snowboarding/ski mask? I am about 75% finished and wondered how it was working for you? I'm worried about the back of the head length being too long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I spun and plied this yarn for my DD. Now it's all knit into a scarf and I'm terrified of ruining it. Is blocking necessary for her scarf? It's ribbed K3P3 and I don't want to lose the ripples. BTW there is nothing more satisfying than hearing "I don't care if it's hot, I'm wearing my scarf FOREVER."
Celeste is nine and she knitted this headband for her best friend. I wanted to show her how proud I was so I put her project on Craftster. (She is a Craft Diva in Training, lol) WTG Celeste!
This is Corazon is 95 yards of soft merino wool. It's the first time I have ever spun a bulky. It was pretty fun! I think I'll make another. I bought 1/2 pound of this colorway. I love it! I'd probably knit Corazon on size 9-11 needles.
I thought about getting a pair for my husband. He knits so tight that he can dent aluminum needles, lol. I thought he might like them, but I wanted to find out if glass needles were just a gimmick or if they worked as well as bamboo or nickel plated. Has anyone knit with glass needles before? They're pretty pricey. More importantly have you broken one yet?
The other day I bumped into another spinner at my LYS. We were both buying fiber and she mentioned that she never pre-drafted, never! I have always pre-drafted and was really surprised. That got me thinking.......Are you a pre-drafter?
Okay, I am not much of a knitter but I am HORRIBLE with crochet. My entire family can crochet, so I have no idea what's wrong with me. However- I found this pattern for a lace-weight shawl that I love, but it's in crochet. Is there some way to translate this? Is there a website or a person that does it? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
My best friend's birthday was last Saturday. She's a knitting diva so we threw her a party at the LYS. (You can't see her Tshirt but it says born to knit, lol) The cake is dark chocolate, pecans and Bailey's Irish Cream. I had to post it here because a) It's the only forum she ever reads b) Only yarn divas would get a yarn cake and I'm pretty sure she has the first yarn cake ever! Happy Birthday Girl!
