What a great idea! I love that song too. If your sewing machine does embroidery, maybe you could try embroidering the lyrics in? Handwritten cursive lettering would be beautiful.

This is fabulous. I'm assuming you did it freehand, in which case you have a great artistic eye! The trees fit together really well and the sponging worked wonderfully! The clouds are amazing too, of course. I think it would be really cool to continue the mural along at least that wall.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Can you tell I love red and gold... and thrift-shopping? on: April 09, 2008 08:51:15 AM
You have a real talent for interior decoration. Everything fits and looks wonderful together. The room is elegant and fun and beautiful and inviting all at the same time. And I can't believe you pulled it all together so quickly!

Definitely prettier than the shrink film we have up on all our windows...
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Magazine Mural - Sunrise over the Mountains on: April 09, 2008 08:34:04 AM
This is absolutely beautiful. I've done similar projects, but with square magazine "tiles" instead of strips to create large landscapes and portraits, and I must say that using strips was genius on your part. I will definitely step outside the square box next time!

I know you want to keep them together, but I think that if you frame them separately in rimless frames, and then hang them slightly apart but still very close together, it could even add to the aesthetic appeal. The rimless frames at IKEA (called "CLIPS") are super cheap but they are just sliiightly too small to fit posterboard.

Anyway, well done! I hit This Rocks!

That's genius, honestly! I love the pieces!
Maybe your dad doesn't open it because it's almost too beautiful to play with. You should surprise him and set it up sometime so you can play together!

I love all these twig projects! The cocktail umbrellas look especially gorgeous.

A couple of other twig/tree posts got me thinking about a photo twig vase. I have a ton of mini clothespins from Dollarama (0.5cm wide, 2cm long). I think it would be lovely to pin a bunch of tiny photos to three or four twigs in a vase and then place it on a mantle or a low separation wall.

How cute and easy!
The tutorial says 12x12 squares make a 5x5 bag. How big is the bag you made with 36x36 squares?

This is AMAZING. I am absolutely in awe. Your hosts are very lucky to have had you as a guest!

Hey, well done! I'm glad you liked my tutorial. Definitely a good idea to use the book cover stuff instead of tape Smiley
