1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Crayon Batik Shirt!! on: September 05, 2004 01:32:13 PM
This craftster link led me to these instructions, and inspired by this other craftster link, I made THIS!!:

Close up:

And it all began when I walked into a wall with wet paint and ruined my shirt. I had to do something to cover the stain (whis is hidden by the frame around the cat)... Thank you all for being so inspiring!!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted "HUG" on: August 03, 2004 04:10:52 PM
IIII'm sooo haaappyyyy!! I really really love this thing!

There's this website www.xtreme-knitting.com/, by this VERY talented girl, and she posted what she calls a hug shrug with pattern and all. Well, I don't knit (I once did, but it was many many moons ago), so I decided to take a stab at it with a fantastically large crochet hook my mom in law gave me. I used a sweater of mine as reference for the sleeve size. I didn't take into account that by using such a large hook, the back would stretch a LOT. So after I was done I had to go back and take a lot of it out (wasn't easy).

Here are the picsees:

The joining in the back would have looked a lot better if I would have done it right the first time... but hey, by screwing up you learn, right? I am thinking of making another one... This is great for when it gets chilly on a summer night  Grin
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sleep Mask on: August 03, 2004 03:52:35 PM
I saw these sleepy time masks and really wanted one... But I don't have a sewing machine (well I do, but it is presently sitting in my mom's garage all the way across the country), and I majorly SUCK at hand stitching... But since I've been learning how to crochet, I want to make everything with that darn hook! So yay! I dove in. All I did is draw an outline of the mask and started to crochet in the shape of it... I ended up giving it to my husband cause he got all excited about it and our blinds don't block the sun very well Smiley He likes it!

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Popcicle Sticks Picture Frame on: August 03, 2004 03:39:24 PM
Sooo... I haven't seen anything like this here so I hope I'm not posting something that has been posted before...

I know it's VERY elementary school, but it was my sister in law's b-day and wanted to make something special. My husband just found this old polaroid of her pretending to be bubble bathing in a box of styrofoam pop corn. It's sooo cute, and I had to make something to showcase it!! Got some craft-ready popcicle sticks at the 99c. store and got to work Smiley

here's a pic!

I cut off the white stripe of the polaroid and sealed the hole with acid free scotch tape. The picture fits snugly in the frame so there was no need to permanently glue it.

And in the back I attached a bit of ribbon (it's sheer so you can't see it that well) so she can hang it Cheesy!!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cell Phone Cover... Strikes Back! on: June 29, 2004 05:14:11 PM
Howdy doo?

Cheers to all the Cell Phone Cozies!! When I saw them I knew I wanted one too, but since I'm a clutz, and it would take me forever to get that ringing phone out in time, I figured I'd make one that would stay on all the time... Here's how my experiment turned out:

I gave it a hole in the bottom so I'd be able to plug the charger in too...

It's got mousey ears!!! No face tho, since my ear goes in that area Grin It's already a little dirty cause I've been using it for a couple of days...

YAY!!!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Beaded Lighter Sleeve on: June 26, 2004 12:50:35 AM
Hellooo...

Here's my first lighter sleeve... And my first attempt at tubular peyote... I didn't think it was going to be as time consuming as it ended up being... Didn't help that in the process, everything computer in my home went to pieces and had to put it off until we got all systems up and running again... I didn't use a pattern, and for the base I just started decreasing arbitrarily so it closed in... I'm not sure if people close the bases when beading lighter sleeves, but I figured it'd be a good idea...

All comments welcome!! Grin
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / CAT PURSE! on: June 26, 2004 12:39:01 AM
Okay, so here I was feeling all spiffy...

I bought some yarn and a crochet needle at Michael's on sale, and went home. Hadn't done much with yarn in years and was checking if I remembered how. Started to do a scarf when it dawned on me it was too much for my inexperienced little self. So I started to build it up into some sort of bag. Put a pack of cancer sticks in it so to guide me on the size bit... then I thought, HOW original WOULD it beee, if i made it into a KITTY!!?? So I did, and got the buttons for the eyes, and did a few test runs on the handle... And I'm all like, YAY!! posting it on craftster TONIGHT!! and then OUT OF THE BLUE, I ran into Cell Phone Cozies...

Uhm... spiffy feeling deflated...

Still, I'm still posting it... Not feeling very original at the moment...

Love the cell phone cozies, Grin I'm not that bitter...

My kitty opens by lifting the face, so I guess that's a new add-on  Tongue And it's a purse  Grin
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Mandala Choker on: June 16, 2004 01:14:02 AM
Hallooo,

O.K. so this is my first posting EVER... EEEEVEERRR...  I may screw it up. I'm marvelously new to this.

This is my Mandala Choker. I made it a couple days ago, I started playing to se IF I could make a Mandala... then had no idea what to make of it (pin? aplique? stick it on the wall?). Went down the easy road, and just attached a couple of stringies to it...VOILA!! Je me prsente vous, "A Choker"  Smiley

Although I am new to Craftster, I've been pretty crafty all along. And I like this place! It's bitchin! Already I have a headache looking at all the cool stuff and thinking "Theres NO way I have enough money or time or hands to do all this cool stuff!" I've been around for what, TWO days and I already feel like an underachiever...  It may lead to my demise... Until then...

Let me know if you likey? THANKS!

p.s. I don't speak a drop of french...
