1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / etching sterling on: August 24, 2010 10:53:00 AM
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone knew if an idea I had would work...

I was wanting to take my sandblaster that I use for etching glass, to etch some sterling silver discs. Does anyone know if this would work? Especially if the etched part was then put in a patina?

TIA.

It's been years since I've posted here!
Found a hot pink bottle at Hobby Lobby and decided it needed a sandblasted Alice in Wonderland silhouette. I love my little sandblaster. Smiley

Thank you so much. This actually helps a lot. I just didn't want to order the 15g bag and only be able to make one charm! And I actually looked for a sticky and must have just not seen it! Sorry!

I was looking at trying pmc3. How many charms pendants rings etc...  Will each bag size make? I was really looking at the 10 oz bag. TIA!

I wanted to get into making pendants and such, but with my sister in law's allergies I though stainless would be a better route. Will a Jewlers Saw cut through stainless? Which blades? Is there another (cheap) option? I have a dremel tool as well, will anything work with that?

Thanks!

awesome! I can't say I'm as experienced as you but I've been on 10 months and just finished my introductory. My lines are crisp because I'm a bit of a cheater - I have a vinyl cutter that I use for stencils. It allows me to get pretty detailed and still have crisp lines. Bonus - no more hand cramps. Smiley

dragonfire411-  are you still in San Angelo? I'm up outside of Lubbock.

I haven't been around in forever! I really love the stuff on blackhelmetapparel.com but just can't bring myself to pay 20-30 dollars for shirt plus shipping. So I went with the tattoo look and here's what I came up with. The back of the shirt:

Hope ya'll like it. I sure do! Yes, I'm a volunteer FF. Tongue
