I made this today for my mums' Christmas present. I found the green velvet in a charity shop for £2, and we both wanted it. My mum wanted some to recover the dining chair cushions with, but there wasn't enough material. She also said that she wanted a noticeboard for Christmas, 'like those with ribbons across it'.

While we were clearing out some of my things for charity I remembered I had a cork noticeboard, which I'd painted bright pink then decided I didn't like it. I covered it in wadding and fabric using staples and thumbtacks, after lots of fiddling and realising the wadding was too thick so I halved it.

I couldn't decide on a suitable fabric other than this, and didn't have enough of any ribbon she'd like apart from this, so I put them together. I added some vintage buttons which are a combination of my nanna's button collection and whatever I've salvaged. Since I took the photos I've also added some hooks and twisted green ribbon for it to hang from.

I quite like it, though I sacrificed being able to pin things to it for the look of the squishy padding.

I'm still a beginner-spinner, and have yet to brave double-ply.

This is currently drying- the pink is actually darker in person. The pink and green are both BFL from worldofwool, and the multi-coloured one is made of scraps of filz-it felting wool of indetermined origin.

It's being sent to someone on a ravelry swap so I don't get to keep it. The raspberry colour is my favourite.

These are my wonky fingerless gloves- one is shorter than the other as I ran out of patience and yarn. It's my first thing that's not an odd glove, or square, or circle or flower. I only know one stitch by heart so it's all single crochet (I'm in the UK but I learnt from an American website).

The yarn was sent to me by a2k about 2 years ago- I finally learnt to do something with it!

I have tried to spin it by putting a leader yarn on and doing my best, but still get a very thick yarn that is pretty much a dreadlock. Is it 'ok' to split it up into thinner strands (say, fingernail width), join them and then spin? Or am I doing it wrong?

I was inspired to try cardmaking, as I have a massive paper stash and wanted to do something with it. 

My mum showed me how to make the purple crepe paper flower, and I roughed up the edges and put a bit of silver ink on it. I've either used or mislaid my foam sticky circles so they're all pretty flat.

I made this wreath using cardboard and foam as a base, based on great craftster ideas.  I wrapped yarn around some polystyrene balls, and dipped some others in glitter. I added some sequins, glitter, ribbon, and glittered some magnetic fridge letters then glued them on.

I made these today :-)

Mushroom and button- the black bit at the top is where I tried to make a hole for a pendant but failed. The button was supergluey and fingerprinty so I dipped it in varnish.

I also made a few rings ('made' seems stretching it a little as it involves buttons and glue) which I've yet to take photos of.

I have a ton of jewellery I've made, but never seem to post any of it. I just got a new camera so was able to take a good photo of it. A while ago I tested a revamped bead site and got a gift voucher in return- the Swarovski crystals are what I spent it on and this is the result:



I added some heart-shaped chain to extend it and look pretty :-) the bigger beads are Czech glass, and my favourites, the filigree ones, are actually budget plated beads.

I made this ornament, and embroidered him. I haven't done very much embroidery so it's just backstitched. My sewing machine reallly didn't like sewing the curves so he's a little bit crooked but I think he's cute. I folded over some co-ordinating bias binding and sewed a straight line down both edges for the loop.
