1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Saturday June 28th 2014 on: June 28, 2014 10:50:54 AM
Well Hello everyone! I've been mostly lurking, but now I have another project of mine to share! It feels like my first real project on my new(ish) spinning wheel. It started out as some plain undyed off-white roving.
Here is a before picture, after I spun it but before I dyed it. A little overspun in some places, and thick and thin too.
 I <3 it though.

It's also my first foray into kool-aid dying. It's so much fun! I tried to go for a kind of ombre effect, between black cherry and orange. Alas I did not know black cherry is such a strong color! It almost worked Wink

So what is everyone up to?
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Stacking Rainbow Toy on: March 24, 2014 06:21:38 PM
Hello all! This is my first venture into sewn toys, and boy was it a challenge! I made this for a personal swap I did with jexxican, who in turn sent me some very lovely yarn. The pattern was created by me, which probably was half the project honestly. But when you can't find anything like what you want online you have to make do, right? Smiley Onto the pictures!

It ends up about 11" tall, and I think 12" at it's widest. It can stand by itself.

All the pieces come apart. It has no velcro or magnets or anything to keep it together.

Aaaand one with the zebra I also made for the swap cause I'm all proud of it Smiley

It didn't turn out quite like I expected (do they ever?), but I learned so much! Comments and (constructive) Criticism are appreciated. Smiley
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Wednesday? November 20th 2013 on: November 20, 2013 03:07:46 PM
Hello all! I'm pretty new to spinning, and wanted to show off my first plied yarn (my second and third spin in all), done on a drop spindle. It's so pretty! I got the fiber sometime in May, and while I thought I had written down what kind of wool it was, I apparently didn't Tongue It's sheep. XD I spun singles over the summer and a couple of months ago plied them together on my drop spindle. THAT was an adventure, with a kitten underfoot. I just remembered to post, because I'm using it to make my husband's Christmas present. He thinks the yarn is 'manly' Wink Without further ado, my yarn:

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / HELP! White Speedylock 234DE serger! on: October 21, 2008 11:27:42 PM
Hello all! I hope to all hope you can lovely people can help! Recently I received a free serger from a friend, upon opening I found there were instructions, in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish. And no helpful disc in English. Does anyone else have this machine? If so, could you point me in the direction of where to get a manual? Or anything? I've looked online and the machine itself wasn't hard to find. Just getting a hold of the manual itself seems hard... So, help? Embarrassed

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mini tophat of DOOM on: May 22, 2008 01:02:55 AM
Ok, maybe it's not really a top hat of DOOM, but it comes pretty close. Cheesy
I made this September '07 I think. I changed it a little, using a craft weight felt with interfacing, because I couldn't find any heavy weight stuff.
Made from the tutorial by GirlOutLaw http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=200095.40
Without further ado, here is my top hat, modeled by my lovely roadrash bear.

7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / How do I line my unlined journal? on: May 15, 2008 01:08:19 AM
Hello everyone! Recently I bought this journal with an amazing cover, I bought it knowing that I could put lines on it, but HOW? This is where you lovely craftsters come in! I was hoping to use one of my mom's old scrap booking stencils, but alas! The space between the lines were too wide! Cry Am I doomed to just use a ruler and hope for the best?

Thanks so much in advance!

Hello all! I'm going to be making earrings for my friend for Christmas. They're going to have little Batman symbols on them. I don't really know Batman's colors or anything; so I don't know what color beads to put along side the symbols. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!  Wink
