11  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Simply Spray XTC t-shirt on: August 20, 2008 06:08:39 AM
Since David from Simply Spray is reading this post, I wanted to put a little wishlist from someone who stencils a LOT...it would be dreamy if you guys could put out a basic color set for those of us that will use those colors on a regular basis.  I'm heading to my local Hobby Lobby & Michael's this weekend to purchase my first Simply Sprays for my stenciled shirts to sell on Etsy and it would be nice not to have to buy the individual cans but hey, a girl can't be too picky.  LOL

Sounds like a great product and I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for a cool product.

**EDIT**  Seems I spoke too soon.  I was looking at the Hobby Lobby and Michael's websites which didn't show the combo packs but then I looked at the Simply Spray website and found exactly what I was looking for.  Thanks!  Off to order now....

Whew!  Thanks for the 2 day extension...I'm almost done but too much family drama going on the past few days to concentrate....but don't worry, Allegory, I'm getting there and will get it in the mail by Wednesday (if I have to stay up all night tomorrow to do it!)  LOL

Thanks, Sulky...you're the best!  Cheesy

I've had the tute http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=198049.0 for this kind of bag bookmarked for months.  I just brought some cheery fabric this week to make it.

OMG, that tute is fabulous!  I wish I had seen it before I started faking my way through mine.  LOL  I am so going to work on a new one, following her tute, tomorrow.  I have new fabrics that are begging to be made into another bag.  Yum!  LOL

Oh, I love it! I just hate cutting all the little squares, it's so time consuming. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

How big were each of the squares?
Did you add fabric to the back of the mattress pad before quilting, or just sew the mattress pad and bandana fabric?

It looks so cute. I think I'm going to make a diaper bag one this week. Maybe.  Tongue

Great job!

Thank you so much for the compliment!

To answer your questions, I made each of my squares 5 1/4" square...it's what would give me the most out of each of my bandanas, so it's what I went with but you can do them any size.

To put the pieces together, I just sandwiched my batting (mattress pad, in this case...which I cut 1" smaller than my fabrics, btw) between two pieces of fabric, right sides facing out, and did my X stitching across them to hold them together.  It was after I had all of the sandwiches quilted that I then stitched two of these "sandwiches" together, making sure to face the raw edges to the RIGHT side of the bag so it could fray.

I hope that made sense.  LOL

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask...I'll answer as best I can.  And be sure to show off your diaper bag after you finish it, okay?

I have so been wanting a rag quite tote/purse forever but I never found one in the colors I wanted....soooooo, being the craft girl that I am, I decided to make one myself.

Only problem is that I couldn't find a tute for one, so I winged it.  Then there was the fabric problem...the closest fabric store is 50 miles away and gas being $4.00 a gallon, it didn't make sense to make that drive for a yard of fabric.

AHA!  Ingenuity came into play.  I went to the trusty Wally World, and came home with a slew of .94 cent bandanas then tore into an old shirt I had in a pile for the Goodwill, along with a 100% cotton mattress pad I had picked up (and SANITIZED) from the thrift store and with a little thought and lots of trial and mistake......TaDa!!!!

I even put 3 small pockets on the inside for keys, cell phone and other things that generally fall to the bottom of your purse.

It was actually fun, looks even cuter now that it's been washed...and I'm addicted!  I must make more in other colors!  lol

Let me know what you think!

I am so wanting to start crafting but I still haven't heard from my partner yet...and even though it's "Mini Me", you don't want to go sending things that your partner hates, ya know?

Oh, and I know about hating Mondays, too.  Ugh!

Okay everyone...being a newby to the Sulky-swaps (LOL), I am half lost on everything I've spent the last hour reading and catching up on.  Cheesy  But I will tell ya, the enthusiasm and general fun of the group sure makes me glad that I've signed up for this one.

Is it partner time yet?  Wheeeeeeeeee!
