I ran into a little problem when making my latest counted cross stitch pattern.  This is what happens when you do counted cross stitch by the pool.

A wrote a quick blurb about my flub, if you care to read it.  http://chicaenglish.blogspot.com/2011/09/pride-goes-before-misspelled-fall.html

No worries.  I was able to correct my mistake.  Phew!

12  Brunch for Vegetarians! - Eggs Bendicto in Vegetarian / Vegan by booglass on: July 24, 2011 08:50:37 AM
I miss brunch.  So I am thrilled to have invented Eggs Bendicto.  My hubby and stepson chomped it down with lots of gusto.  It felt great to have a real brunch style dish that didn't feel like a vegetarian compromise.

My pet peeve is food that is really just an afterthought intended to give the vegetarians whatever.  So I spend a lot of time trying to invent yummy vegetarian dishes that are meant to be delicious, nutritious and very satisfying.  With this dish, I feel like I really did it.

The recipe is at http://chicaenglish.blogspot.com/2011/07/sunday-brunch-or-what-to-do-with.html

Enjoy.

13  Tropical Vanilla Mango Jam (Pic Heavy) w/bonus homemade vanilla recipe in Recipes and Cooking Tips by booglass on: July 23, 2011 07:43:12 AM
I bought a crate of mangoes from a roadside fruit stand for $5.  It was enough to fill a a laundry basket.  I made lots of goodies but the best was the Tropical Vanilla Mango Jam.

I used my homemade vanilla extract...yet another goody purchased here in Costa Rica.  Along with raw sugar and good ol' H2O to make sunshine in a jam jar.

FYI - to make your own vanilla. Simply buy 2 pods, split them and add to a small bottle of vodka.  Let sit for 3 months.  Then enjoy the tastiest vanilla.  Or make drinks with it!

It was super easy and even let me break out my precious immersion blender.  I feel like a some kind of culinary badass whenever I use it.

Then viola homemade jam!  I gifted a few jars to friends and then kept the rest for myself.  Delish!

More details about the recipe can be found at herehttp://chicaenglish.blogspot.com/2011/07/tropical-vanilla-mango-jam.html http://chicaenglish.blogspot.com/2011/07/tropical-vanilla-mango-jam.html

14  Gorgeous Flower Brooch in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by booglass on: December 28, 2010 08:51:01 AM
It is easier than getting into ASU to make this lovely little flower brooch.

Just pick a flower then cut the back to make as flat as possible.  Then secure the last few layers with glue.

Then glue a pin back on, let dry and voila!!!!!

Here is an action shot

You can read a more detailed tutorial at http://www.chicaenglish.com/my-blog/2010/12/make-your-own-flower-brooch-.html

15  B/C Sometimes Simple is Best in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by booglass on: June 12, 2010 12:03:06 PM
My latest design is Groove.  A slightly domed ring with light groove texture.

The ring was carved in wax then cast.  Once polished I decided to add the grooves.  And I love the results.

So very good I ate it all!

The recipe is at http://www.bglassdesigns.com/b-glass-designs/2010/05/faux-pho-.html.  If you prefer not to use fish sauce sub 3 tbs soy sauce and keep adding to taste.

17  Textured SterlingSilver Earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by booglass on: May 19, 2010 06:27:09 AM
I was in the mood to make myself a pair of dangly earrings with a little pizazz.  Since this was an experiment I used silver laminate leftover from another project.

I added a bit of texture for fun.  Then cut out circles with a little wonky-ness.  Perfect circles seemed too tidy for these earrings.  I also made bezels.

Then I put it all together and viola!  A fun pair of earrings with a updated 70s feel.  They make me want to boogie and wear harem pants.  Is that so wrong?

19  My Latest Organic Piece UPDATED - W/Second Ring in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by booglass on: March 11, 2010 03:38:25 PM
I used to do very modern pieces with crisp lines.  And while I still love that look lately, I have been leaning towards the rustic and organic.  Actually, I have been crazy into organic pieces lately and this is my latest -

The stone is CZ.  Maybe the next one will be with a more expensive stone.

Someone has already offered to buy it.  But can I part with it?  Sigh.

Enjoy!

20  Carrot Ginger Soup and Corn Fritters in Recipes and Cooking Tips by booglass on: March 08, 2010 09:25:40 AM
I originally posted the fritters in the vegetarian section.  But good food is good food even if it is vegetarian.  So I decided to post the pic of my soup and fritters here.

The soup is an invention (as far as the recipe) of my own and corn fritters are from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian.

Enjoy.
