111  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Closure via teeth? on: December 26, 2007 10:17:52 PM
I'm in the midst of making a monster purse/bag thing. My first (intentionally) crafty thing ever, I believe. =) No sewing machine or anything, just these guns. ::flexes arm and giggles::

I'd like to make it a simple bag (what is a Jordy? I think mine may be one) with something that looks toothy. I was either going to use a large-toothed white zipper (but I'm not sure if they exist, or where to get one) or perhaps just cut it out of some white felt and use magnets/zipper underneath to hold it closed, so that the monster is baring his teeth.

Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance!
112  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Snuggles for Shelter Animals on: December 26, 2007 05:40:41 PM
That's a wonderful idea! I know I work at the animal shelters, and our dogs and cats are always seeking out a bit of warmth and comfort out in their cages (especially around this time of year, while it's sleeting outdoors. =( )

Also, we have a lot of feral cats that, when domesticated, can become great pets. However, fear often gets the best of them. A handmade blanket of some sort with a HUMAN scent helps them relate humans with good things faster, making them more adoptable (and increasing turnover of animals, which allows us to keep bringing more cats in).

Sooooo, I'll definitely be doing this in my spare time with scrap yarn. <3

This has got to be one of the niftiest bags I've seen in a while. The pattern and the BATS and everything just fit together so perfectly - I love the idea.
